“Huh?” I muttered, but she asked another question.
“What exactly did you see?”
“I did not see,” I replied, lowering my gaze, suddenly unsure of myself.
“I felt it.”
Even as I spoke, I wondered why they were making such a big deal out of it. To me, it had been natural. “It was when their skin touched. There was a certain warmth to it. It just felt… alive.”
Irene massaged the bridge of her nose. “It really is true,” she murmured.
“What is?” I asked, my heart beginning to thud harder against my ribs.
She lifted her eyes to mine. “When Lucille came to visit when she was pregnant with you, she was feeling things. She said she could sense bonds between wolves. She claimed she could connect mates together.”
I swallowed. “Can’t regular wolves do it?”
