There were nights when the silence was too thunderous to stay listening to it alone, and often Thomas couldn’t find anything to make it quiet. Usually, those were the nights following particularly hard days, like the one when he’d called Elias to meet at the Black Sheep. Nights when the need for a warm body was too strong. The fact that he’d decided to only consider a person for their muscles and bones, ignoring the heart, had been his choice.
