Luckily, we were about to finish our last board exams. As you all had experienced the feeling of nervous or frightening or something else at commence of the board exam, we also had experienced the same. At last, we were giving our last board exam; after our exams got over, we jumped in the air in joy. We took photos in the school and with our school's teaching and non-teaching faculties, who were with us since we joined the school as a kindergarten kid and until we leave the school as an outgoing student. Moreover, we also took many selfies and groupies; at last, all the 12th school students of our school took a group photo, which was Heritage School's Tradition.
At evening, our schoolmates had planned to meet at a pub at 6 in the evening and Grandpa agreed to let me out with my friends after seven, as it was the last day of our school life. Therefore, after coming from school I changed myself into a white gold button Kimono sleeve belted blouse and light blue jean.
"Bye Grandma, bye Grandpa. I'll be coming late today, so don't wait for me." I said them as I wore a mesh and rhinestone panel spool heels from the shoe rack and closed the door behind me.
"Shall we move to?" Neil asked and his voice was very excited.
"Yeah" I shook my head.
Then we picked up all our friends and went to the pub, as we reached the parking lot of the pub, there was a beeping sound on my mobile phone. The notification displayed that I got a message from Krish.
"Where are you, my princess?"
"Just now entered the parking lot." I replied while I got down from the car. "you???"
"Standing behind you." He replied.
I turned back, and he was leaning on his car. He was wearing a white shirt and light blue jean like mine. He smiled as he came forward to us.
"Loo, have you and Krish planned to wear the same colour dress." Monica teasingly whispered in my ears.
"Nah, even I'm surprised to see him in the same colour as the dress. It is a coincidence."
We waited for a while for our schoolmates to arrive. After their arrival, we went in and the noise of music filled the place with, Maaron 5’s "Girls like you". Everyone was on the dance floor accept me, Suhana and Monica. I could see most of the Heritage High School students in the pub. We three sat on one of the love chairs, having some cocktail.
"So, Loo, where are you going to do your College studies?" Monica asked.
"I haven't decided yet." I sighed. "My dad and Grandpa want me to do an MBA and take over their business as my elder sister, Sonia did earlier. However, I want to do Brain and Neurosurgeon in the University of Kentucky in but I'm very sure that Grandpa and Grandma won't allow me to do Brain and Neurosurgeon and that too in the U.S., never." I took a sip from my drink. "And what about you guys?" I asked them.
"My condition is worse than yours," Suhana complained.
"Why? What happen?" Monica asked her.
"On one hand, my dad wants me to do CA and help him in his office as I'm the youngest child in the family because my two elder brothers and sister had already chosen their career which has no link with dad's business. On the other hand, my mom wants me to do Literature, as it was her desire for her young age and now she wants me to do it for her." She rolled her eyes.
"But what do you want to do?" I raised an eyebrow.
"That's the problem, Loo. Yet I haven't decided what to do?" she leaned back.
"Hey, why can't you go for barista?" I suggested her, as she had a brilliant knowledge of coffee.
"Loo, are you kidding?" she raised an eyebrow. "Like seriously, I'm neither going to open a coffee shop nor my parents would let me do barista."
"Hey, I'm serious." I leaned forward, "Since you have an interest in coffee making, why can’t you go for it?" I asked her.
"Yeah, but?" she bitted her lips.
"Excuse me girls" Krish interrupted, "Can I borrow my girl for a while from you?"
"Of course, you can but before that, you have to order a drink for us." Suhana teased him.
"Well, here are your drinks." He came back with two glasses of orange juice.
"Now you can borrow your girl." Suhana looked at me.
"So, my Juliet would like to dance with me?" he showed his hand.
"Of course, I would like to, Mr Romeo." I took his hand and we went dancing. We kept on dancing for a long time. After some time, the melodious song was played I kept my head upon his chest and he held me so close that there was hardly a gap between us.
"You look handsome, today." I looked at him.
"Oh, really?" he raised his eyebrow.
"Yeah."
"Well, you too look gorgeous." He winked.
"Hey, stop lying." I nodded.
"Hey, I swear." He shrugged. "You are the only girl who stole my heart."
"I'm impressed." I laughed.
Later all the students departed slowly and we were the last people to leave the pub.
"Neil, I'll come with Krish. You go home." I said we stepped out.
"Okay!" he nodded.
Krish and I sat in his car, as I tilted my seat belt, he leaned forward.
Krish, what are you doing?" I leaned back on the window.
He bought his hand near my face, and undid my pony and tucked my hair behind my ear and went back by smiling. I sighed and laughed.
"So what were you thinking?" He asked as he started the car.
"Nothing." I lied.
"hmm...hmm..." he laughed.
"What?" I asked him.
"Nothing." He shrugged.
"I know, what are you thinking, Krish?" I raised an eyebrow.
Nothing babe. I was just laughing like that." He said as he looked straight.
"Don't lie." I grinned.
"Okay, then say me what was I thinking?" he winked.
"You... you were..." my voice trembled.
"I was what?" he smirked mischievously.
"nothing" I looked down, shyly.
"Come on, say it, babe."
"I said, nothing."
"No, I want to know what I was thinking."
"Only you know what were you thinking, how can I say it?" I looked at him.
"You only said that you know what I was thinking."
I took a great sigh, "Okay dude, I admit my defeat. Now please drive the car." I raised my hands in defeat.
"I never thought that you'll easily admit your defeat." He teased me.
"Excuse me." I frowned, "If I admitted my defeat it does not mean that you can tease me."
"I didn't tease you." He said as we headed to an apartment.
"Where are we going, Krish?" I asked him, suspiciously.
"Wait and see, my princess." He halted the car and got out.
I was unaware of what he had planned, but I was sure that he was up to something. Then he opened my door, asked me to come out. When I came out, he took me to the lift and pressed the button to the third floor.
"Krish Chopra, may I know what are you up to?" I asked him firmly.
"Have Patience, my princess." He checked his phone and typed something on it. Then he looked at me and smiled.
When we reached the third floor, he took my hand and head to a locked door.
"Krish, whose house is this? And, where are we?" I was dubious.
"Don't worry Loo. It's one of my apartments" he confined me.
"But what are we doing here?"
"Wait and see, and please no more questions for goodness sake." He sounds annoyed as shook his head.
"Okay," I said and zipped my mouth.
He laughed as he saw me doing this; cupped my cheeks, and pressed his forehead against mine.
"Mr Krish Chopra, can you tell me at least now, what are you up to?" I pulled away from him and folded my hand across my chest.
"Well, then you have to open the door first." He gave me the key.
I opened the door and went inside the house. He led me to enter into the house first and he followed me behind. I was expressionless when I saw the big framed portrait that was hanging on the hallway. I couldn't believe my eyes by seeing it, it the portrait of Krish and I. It was the picture of our first dance at the farewell party and that day he proposed to me. I was stunned as I was still looking at the picture; he hugged me from behind and planted a kiss on my cheeks. "Do you like it?" he asked as he interlocked his fingers with mine.
"Yeah" I nodded; I could feel the tears scrolling out from my eyes. He turned me towards him so that I could face him. He cupped my cheeks, wiped the trail of my tears gently with his thumb, and turned on the stereo with the remote control. The stereo played the song "Thousand Years". Then he turned towards me and asked me for a dance, and then we danced for a while. It became not only my favourite song but also a song that made my love life a memorable one.
Heart beats fast
Colours and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid
I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this
One step closer
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid
I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
One step closer
One step closer
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid
I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Later we sat out on the balcony.
"Looshin, close your eyes." He said as he turned towards me.
"Why?" I asked in surprise.
"Oh! Looshin you are asking too many questions. Don't ask questions anymore, just do what I say." He ordered.
I did as he said and suddenly felt something icy around my neck.
"Shall I open my eyes, now?" I asked curiously.
"Yeah, you can."
When I opened my eyes, he held a hand mirror in front of me; which had my reflection and I noticed a chain around my neck. The pendent had two fingerprints. I looked at him, holding the pendant in my hand; also noticed that he was also wearing the same around his neck. He smiled as I looked at him.
"I wanted to give you, something that is neither yours nor mine; but it should be ours." He said and hugged from the back. "Do you like it?"
"Like it? I just love it, Krish." I turned to face him. "But how did you get my fingerprints?" I asked in surprise.
"I took it when you came to my home." He smiled and ran his hand on his silky hair.
"Krish, can I ask you something?" I asked as I looked at his dark brown eyes.
"You can ask whatever you want, my love?" he looked at me.
"Why do you love me so much?" I could feel the tears rolling down my cheeks. "So much, that makes me feel that I owe my whole life to you."
"Of course you owe me your life" he winked, "because you are nearest to my heart; and loving you is the only thing I prefer the most." He said as he wiped my tears and cupped my face. "And please don't shed these precious drops often; they are unique, so please don't waste them."
I smiled and nodded.
"And my dear princess, I'll do whatever that makes you happy." He looked into my eyes, "But you have to do only one thing in return for me." his facial expression changed.
"What's that?" I asked him as I looked into his eyes.
"Promise me, that you'll never leave me; whatever comes between us." He held his hand out.
"I promise that I'll never leave you; until I breathe my last breath," I promised him.
He dragged me closer to him, kissed me on my forehead, and made me lean my back against his board chest. I tucked my head under his chin and twined my fingers with his. We sat there for a while and suddenly it started to rain.
"Come on, Looshin. Get in, it's raining." He was dragging me in.
"No, I won't. I want to get wet in the rain." I released my hand from his grip and stood there widening my arms for him, "Come here."
"Looshin, you have too. You'll get cold if you get wet." He ordered.
"No, I won't." I shouted back, "You come here."
"You won't listen like this, right?"
"No." I shook my head.
He came near me and dragged me towards the door but instead, I dragged him towards me. I kept my hand around his neck and took my face near his; even in rain, I can smell his Calvin and Klein cologne. He kept his hand around my waist and his lips pressed a soft kiss on mine. First, we kissed lightly but later we lip locked each other. It was an amazing moment I have ever experienced, 'the kiss in the balcony on a rainy night on summer season.' I wanted that moment to last forever.
It was almost 1.a.m. when we reached my home. I didn't want to go back home, I wanted to go with him somewhere, where we both could be alone and live a happy life together.
"Thank you," I said to him as I undid my seat belt.
"For what?" he raised his eyebrow.
"For everything you did today."
"Well, I return your thank you." He sighed.
"Why?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Forgiving you to me." he smiled his damn cute smile once again that night.
"Huh..." I laughed, "I wanted to say this to you since I saw you but now I think I have to say it to you." I looked at his smiling lips.
"And what's that?" he roused a brow.
"Your smile." I took a deep breath but my eyes were locked his. "Your smile changes my colour."
"Be still, don't move." He came closer to me.
My heart rate became high and I could feel them beneath my skin. I closed my eyes as he was coming close to my face. I was waiting for his lips to touch mine. Nevertheless, he planted his lips on my cheek and backed off, with his wicked smile on his face. The height of my expectation destroyed and I realized my mouth hung open in frustration.
"What happens, Loo?" he asked smirking
"Nothing." I suppressed my anger.
"Nah! You were expecting something." His wicked smile grew wider.
Asshole, you know it, still, you are pretending as if you don't know what I was expecting, I cursed him beneath my heart. "Okay, bye it's too late. I have to go." I opened the door.
"Hey, wait. I need to say you something." He held my hand.
"What now, Krish?" I wrinkled my brows.
"We are leaving for London, tomorrow."
"Why?" I asked in shock.
"Well..." he sighed, "I wanted it to be a surprise but I can't keep it from you anymore." his gaze glowed, "I'm going to do fashion designing in The College of Fashion, and I have also cracked the entrance test. Now I have finished all the procedures in the college, the only thing left is to shifting to London." I could see the happiness in his eyes as he twined my fingers with his. "And we'll be going to college together."
Tears filled my eyes, but I fought to pull them back into my eyes, threw a light smile on my face, so that he could not see my saddened face, as I don't know how should I feel, Whether to be happy, because my boyfriend is moving to my hometown for his graduation; or to be sad because I'm not going to join with him. I lowered my gaze as I didn't dare to meet his.
"Krish..." I took a deep breath, "before that I need to say you something." I looked down. "I... I'm going to the University of Kentucky, for my graduate studies. And I'm going to do Brain and Neurosurgeon."
"So, you'll not be in London." He frowned.
"Yeah." I lowered my head. "I have sent the application and I'm waiting for their reply." Tears scrolled down on my cheeks. "Sorry, I didn't tell you before."
"But I thought that you wanted to go back with your mom and dad to London?" he creased his eyebrows. "And I thought we would be going together to the college." His eyes were red.
"I too want to go to college with you, but not in London." I took his hand.
"Even in London, there are many popularized Universities, where you can do Brain and Neurosurgeon; why can't you come there?"
"But doing Brain and Neurosurgeon in the University of Kentucky is my dream, Krish." tears rolled down on my cheeks.
He remained quiet for a while. The silence was filled in the car; his hand was still sandwiched in my hands.
"It's Okay. I know it's too late for me to change college and I also knew that you won't change your decision." He nodded in dismay.
"I'm sorry, Krish" I pleaded him.
"It's Okay. If we get all that we wish then what's life is all about, we have to sacrifice one." He wiped my tears with his thumb. "And do you remember, I have already said you that you should not waste your precious tears often." He smiled which did not reach his eyes.
"Yeah." I nodded and smiled meekly.
"The only thing which I worry is how I will live far away from you." I could see the loneliness in his eyes.
I kept another hand upon his and assured him, "You'll be fine. We can text every day in sss and w******p. Moreover, we can also do a video chat on Skype, by the way, it's my home town, my prince, remember?" I forced a smile on my face. "I'll be visiting my family, there and it will also be very easy if you'll be in London, I could visit you and we can also spend some time; whenever I come to London. Okay?"
He smiled but this time it was not the cute and hot one; which melts my heart, instead, it was a sad one; that rolled my tears down the cheeks. I quickly wiped my tears off, so that he could not see my tears.
"Okay, when are you leaving?" I asked him and my voice sounded weak.
"Within an hour, we'll be leaving to the airport." he cupped my cheeks and his brown eyes turned dark.
I looked at the time and it was one past midnight.
"Okay, bye." I smile and loosened my fingers from him.
"Hey, where are you going?" his grip was hard between my fingers.
"To home." I shrugged.
"Do you have to go now?" his face turned off.
"Krish, it's almost 1." I looked at the stereo, which was displaying the time. "And you have got flight within an hour." I kept my hand on his.
"Can I come with you, at least till your doorstep, Please?" He pleaded.
"Okay." I smiled and nodded, even my inner soul doesn't want him to leave.
"That's my girl." His eyes twinkled in the dark.
As we got out of the car and entered the elevator. His hands were on my waist and his face turned towards me.
"Krish?" I raised my eyebrow.
"Don't move, stay there. I want to give a good night kiss." He leaned forward as his eyes closed and his lips pressed gently on mine.
When the elevator, halted on the third floor, I broke the kiss and backed off. "I have to go, Krish", I whispered in his ears.
"Okay, bye. Take care." He kissed on my forehead. "Love you."
"Hmm..." I smiled meekly, I wanted to say those words three words for which he is desperately waiting for but I can't say it like that, I wanted to make it a memorable one. "Text me when you'll leave, okay?" I got out of the elevator.
"Yeah, sure." He was in the elevator and he pressed the ground floor button when the elevator door closed.
I went near the door and rang the bell. Grandma opened the door; her eyes reddened due to lack of sleep.
"Why didn't you sleep, Grandma?" I asked her as I entered the house and removed my sandals.
"I was waiting for you." She locked the door behind me.
"And where is Grandpa?" I turned to face her.
"He went to bed a while ago." She smiled, "Then, how was your last day?"
"It was awesome, Grandma." I hugged her, remembering the moment I spent with my Krish.
"Oh Goodness, you are wet." She touched my hair, "You got drench in the rain?" She narrowed her eyes.
"Oh! Come on, Grandma. It's just fun." I puppy faced her. "Anyways it rained suddenly."
"What will happen, if you fall sick?" she took me into my room and dried my hair.
"Nothing will happen to me; because the world's best Grandma is with me." I hugged her.
"Okay, now change your clothes and go to sleep." She laughed. "Good night."
"Good night, Grandma," I said as she closed the door behind her.
I changed into night suit, curled into the quilt and slept peacefully and happily that night.
