Her body trembled in my embrace. I lifted her in my arms and started to make my way upstairs. I didn’t know why Alpha Jeffrey didn’t let us stay in the packhouse before, but I didn’t want to go back to the cottage. Alpha Jeffrey quickly followed and took us upstairs to one of the guestrooms. The panic in his eyes when he saw Elizabeth’s body still shaking in fear warmed my heart. I sat down on the bed, and Jeffrey left us, knowing there was nothing he could do.
