Jornada del Muerto Basin, New MexicoAmber poked the fire. Sparks flared and flickered. Livia leaned back against Corbo; resting her head in his lap. Amber leaned against the wall, and watched the fire. Hypnotic flames caused images to dance before her eyes. She wasn't sure if they were past events, future events, movies, or bits of news coverage. Flashes of roads buckled and split, cars trapped, pancaked between bridge layers. Buildings wavered like flowers in the breeze as people screamed from windows, jumped, and tumbled down. Oceans swelled, boiled, and raged across people and buildings, and washed them out to sea. A flame jumped high. Amber's head jerked up. Livia tapped on her phone. "What is it?" Livia glanced up and sighed. "I have been trying not to chat with my friends too
