Los Alamos, New MexicoAmber and Alex rushed down the hall. Corbo pushed Livia in an abandoned office chair. The meeting room clamor grew as they approached. It spilled down the hallway, increasing in bursts. As they reached the last corner, it decreased to silence as if someone had shut the door. Amber dashed into the room. The projector hummed. It had been set to a map of San Francisco. A large TV screen blared beside it. Surely, it was a nightmare, or somewhere else. Buildings fallen, rubble everywhere. Dust billowed on the screen. Fires roared in the background. Sirens blared and lights flashed. The scene looked like a nightmare movie. Why had they turned on horror movies, when off base was scary enough?
