The door banged shut.
Tires crunched on gravel.
She slipped the pillowcase into her backpack, zipped it shut, and followed Alex to the window.
The transport vehicle parked away from the door. Dust covered dents in the doors verified the drive back had been less than gentle. One tire landed in a mud puddle. The water to the trailer must have sprung a leak.
Corbo crawled out from under the trailer covered in mud.
"Had to fix the leak. Think I have it turned off."
Dr. Evan nodded and pulled a box out the vehicle.
"General Nord had a short wave radio in the vehicle."
"Good. Dr. Rebecca sent me to find out if the ranger station had heard anything. I hadn't made it there yet." Corbo took the radio box.
