14 14 Lydia LydiaLydiaNow that the process has begun, the only thing left to do is embrace it. She took the first of tortuous steps, by going to Aimee’s apartment. She showed up, she acknowledged reality for what it is, now in the present, not twenty-five years ago, and there’s no reversing that. Sitting at the bottom of the stairs, she isn’t sure how much time has gone by. She takes a sip of her coffee and looks at the stack of boxes propped against the wall.
