Chapter 5
Jillian makes a U-turn in front of Alfredo’s and pulls in next to the curb. James heads toward the passenger door before she brings the vehicle to a complete stop. Just as he opens the door, Bascom, who has enjoyed the shotgun position since leaving the ranch, obediently hops into the back, without so much as a single command from her. James climbs in bearing two, white grub bags and wearing a backpack. His presence in the car makes her pulse react.
“Hello,” they chime together.
“You look great tonight,” he says pointedly.
