“Emma, get over there with Jillian. You and Lacey will plant cucumbers. Jillian and Demi can work the tomatoes. I’ll look for a water can.”
Jillian starts working the dirt with her bare hands, saying, “Start out by making the soil even all the way around. Then take three seeds, pinch them together, and push them about half an inch down. Push a little soil over that hole and move on to the next one.”
Emma, having smoothed out her dirt, hands the tomato seeds to Demi and places the open bag of cucumber seeds between herself and Lacey, who stands across from her, remarking, “This is easier than I thought it would be.”
