I was paralyzed with fear as I stared at the eyes lying just beyond the goat masks. The plastic masks were unnerving as the figures surrounded the car. May was sobbing as she buried her face in my neck. The sound was the only thing I heard as I wrapped my arms around her, ready to fight every person I could see just to keep her safe.
“What do they want?” I asked.
