Chapter 6 Road Rage

1792 Words
This is some bullshit. Here we are surrounded by many amateurs wielding guns, and we are stuck behind this SUV. "s**t! Gotta call Bean," I said. "Call Bean for what?" Samantha asked, confused. "So she can come to get us. We have to get out of here, so I can see what's in these files. It's not like we can walk away. They want us dead." I was trying to stay calm. "I don't think Bean can handle this much pressure." "Oh well, she's gonna learn today. Unless you have a better idea?" "I have grenades." She sounded so excited like grenades were going to save the day. "Where did you get grenades from?" I asked, surprised. I did not have grenades in my bunker. "From the sliced turkey on the floor." Now she was laughing loudly. "WOW, OK, Bean," I called on the radio. "Bean, can you hear me?" "I hear you. What's up? Where are you guys at? You said twenty minutes." She sounded like she was tired of waiting on us. "Change of plans, more idiots showed up. Now we are stuck. Listen carefully, I-Need-You-To-Come-Get-Us," I told her slowly. Samantha smacked her lips. "Why are you talking like she doesn't speak English?" "Samantha, I need her to understand the urgency in the matter." Samantha snatched the radio, "You know what, Bean, bring your ass to the front and pick us up." She was screaming through the radio as the bullets were flying around us. "Wait, you want me to drive this car over there to pick you all up in the line of fire. I know I'm not smart but, I'm not that damn stupid." "They're closing in. How many grenades do you have, Samantha?" "I have about five. Why?" I nodded my head at her. "Give me three." She gave them to me with a confused look on her face. I was tired of being a sitting duck. It was time to go. I snatched the radio back. "Bean, I want you to drive to the end of the driveway where the gate begins, turn facing the street and be ready to drive off." "Now that I will do." She chimed back through the radio, sounding determined. "You ready, Samantha?" I repositioned my squatting stance. "For what?" She looked a little lost and surprised. She had no idea what I was thinking. "Well, we are going to make a run for it while shooting." "And the grenades?" She asked "It's for the fireworks show." Samantha smiled, coming to an understanding. We stood up and began to run. She started shooting, and I threw one grenade at the SUV to the other side of the house. It exploded, killing four guys in the process. I watched as their bodies flew through the air. The other men turned and saw us take off. They started shooting in our direction, so I threw another grenade while ducking the bullets. It landed by a black car sitting towards my car. BOOM!! Glass went everywhere, car parts flying. My car took damage and was on fire. I'm going to miss my car. I think a fender hit one of the guys in the head-splitting it in half. "OH Yeah!! We are almost there," I said. The last grenade I threw was when I saw Bean pull up. I noticed the guys retreating to the car. I heard some shots, and then Samantha let out a scream. I turned around and saw Samantha on the ground screaming. "OH HELL, Samantha, you OK?" "I got hit in the leg." I can see the pain in her eyes. "Can you walk?" I tried to help her up. She was struggling and grunting as she began to rise to her feet. Gunshots are still ringing by us. "OH f**k! I got hit." I screamed out in pain. I sucked up the pain and threw the last grenade towards the truck, firing at us, and the truck exploded and flew through the air. We were ducking and watching the truck fly and smack the gate. I helped Samantha stand again, and we both hobbled as fast as we could to the car. We jumped into the car, and Bean peeled off, leaving dust and rocks in her wake. "Samantha, are you OK?" I asked. "I will be, don't worry, what about you?" "I am good. It is not as bad as yours. I think it just grazed me. We will be able to assess the damage more when we get to a safe location." "OK, so where are we headed?" Bean asked. "I gotta make some calls. There are only a limited number of people I can trust," I said. "f**k!" Bean let out a shout that made me jump. "What dammit, what is it?" I was looking out in front of us. Not paying attention to anything behind us. I was thinking all their vehicles were disabled. "Damn, they are chasing us," Bean said. I looked behind me and saw two black vehicles heading our way shooting at us. She sounded scared. I mean, the last thing any of us wanted them to do was to chase us down the highway. "It's OK. We have ammo. How good is your driving?" "It's fair, I believe." She shrugged her shoulders. "HA! Fair is not the word I would use," Samantha stated in a shallow voice, trying to fight pain. "OK, so how would you state it?" I asked. "When she gets pissed off, it's the best driving in the world, especially if she is running for her life." "OK, well, Bean, we are going to f*****g die if you do not drive this car because they are going to kill us, and we need to make sure we live." The next thing I know, she floors it, and we are doing 90 tops. I grabbed the gun Samantha had and told her to stay down. Told Bean to open the sunroof on the car. As she opened the sunroof, I stood up, shooting at the black cars. This was easy since I was a short person and small. We were swerving in and out of traffic, trying to avoid hitting other vehicles on the road. Cars were swerving, dodging bullets. You can hear the crashes of the other cars as they pass by. So much was going on. I was losing focus. Samantha is yelling at Bean to go faster, car horns going off, people screaming. f**k THIS, I thought. I jumped out of the car through the sunroof, laid on top of the car, and started shooting. I hit the man in the passenger seat of one of the black cars. One of the SUVs gained speed and pulled up beside us, pushing us toward the railing. He rolled down the window on the passenger side, and before Bean could even yell, I had slid through the passenger side window and was in the vehicle with the man. I grabbed the steering wheel of the SUV and started to swerve to the middle, hitting another car on the road. The guy raised a hand and connected it with my jaw. He tried to ram into the car Bean was driving while I was trying to regain control of the situation. "You hit like a b***h," I told him. I grabbed the steering wheel with one hand and his head with the other and made contact. We swerved back to the middle of the road away from Bean. I broke his nose. Blood went everywhere. I kicked the driver's side door open and threw him into traffic. I hopped into the driver's seat, and I radioed Bean to let her know we have one SUV left. I fell behind her as she picked up speed. The other black SUV was hot on my trail, so we tried to shake him moving in and out of traffic. He was trying to shoot us and failing. I got annoyed and wanted to do away with the scumbag. I let out two shots toward him, drove up to Bean, and told her to give me a grenade. "A grenade? From where?" She said, looking confused. Just then, Samantha handed her one. She gasped and shook her head, unable to form the words she was trying to get out. She tossed it into the SUV. I gave her a mischievous grin, and I fell behind her again. The black SUV drove up beside me on my driver's side, and I was on his passenger side. He rolled down the window. "YOU READY TO DIE b***h?!" He yelled at me. I gave him a smile and looked him in the eye. He raised his gun. I smiled. "YOU FIRST FUCKER”!!! Pulled the pin to the grenade, tossed it through his window, and pulled off in front of him to catch back up with Bean. I looked in my rearview mirror and watched as the car exploded. It gave me a rush. I had goosebumps all over my body. My heart was pumping at an abnormal pace, and butterflies were building in my stomach. Oh, how I missed this rush. I drove in front of Bean and radioed her to follow me. We had to get off this road immediately. From a distance of where we left, I can hear the fade of the sirens and can see the lights. We got off on a side road and parked. "Bean, I just need a moment to think. How is your mother?" "She is fine besides yelling at me like she is dying." I laughed and went to look in on Samantha. "Are you OK?" "Yea. Hell of a car chase, right?" She asked. She sounded defeated, and I know she was in pain. "You know you really are as good as they say." "Yea," I said. "Look, I am confused. These files must be important. They didn't even care to be so so so…." "Reckless." She finished my sentence. She was just as shocked as I was about these people. "I just don't get it. What is in these files?" I asked curiously. "I don't know, but we need to find out. You have a person you can trust and know they have your back?" I looked at her and thought about it long and hard. I could not tell her who the person was until we got there. I looked at her and nodded my head. "Just let me call them, and we will be on the way." "OK. Please hurry. I need something for the pain and need to remove this bullet from my leg." “I got ancetemediphien.” "NOT STRONG ENOUGH!!" She yelled, adjusting herself in the seat.
