Awakening Powers

1122 Words
The morning sun rose slowly over Sydney, painting the sky with soft orange and pink colors. The harbour water reflected the light like a giant mirror. Boats started moving early, carrying people to work and tourists to see the famous Opera House. The city was waking up to another busy day, full of normal life. But inside Ethan Kane’s high penthouse, the day began with serious training and quiet tension. Ethan stood in the large open living room. He had moved all the furniture to the sides to create a big empty space. He wore a simple black shirt and comfortable pants. His tall, strong body looked relaxed, but his sharp eyes were focused and watchful. For someone who had lived more than four hundred years, teaching another person about powers was something completely new. He had always hidden his abilities. Now he was sharing them with Sophia. Sophia Reed walked into the room wearing comfortable training clothes a loose gray top and black leggings. Her long dark hair was tied in a neat ponytail. She looked determined but a little nervous. As a famous actress, she was used to long hours learning lines and doing physical scenes for movies, but this was different. This was real power, not acting. “Today we focus on awakening and controlling your powers more deeply,” Ethan said in his calm, deep voice. “Your abilities are connected to the energy from your fall. The more you practice, the stronger they become. But you must learn control, or they can become dangerous.” Sophia nodded and stood in the center of the room. “I am ready. Show me what to do.” Ethan started with simple exercises. He lifted a small cushion from the floor using only his mind. It floated smoothly in the air and moved in different directions. “Feel the energy inside your chest,” he explained. “It is like a warm light. Think about the cushion the same way. Do not force it. Let it happen naturally.” Sophia closed her eyes and concentrated hard. At first, nothing happened. Then the cushion shook a little. Slowly, it lifted a few centimeters off the ground. She opened her eyes and smiled with excitement. “I did it!” “Good,” Ethan said. A small proud look appeared on his handsome face. “Now try to make it move in a circle.” They practiced for many hours. Sophia got better step by step. She made the cushion move faster, then lifted two objects at the same time. Sweat appeared on her forehead from the effort. Ethan stayed patient, correcting her gently and showing examples. Between exercises, they drank water and rested. During these breaks, they talked about many things. Sophia told him more about her difficult days in the acting industry. “Sometimes I feel like I am always performing,” she said while sitting on the floor. “Even when the cameras are off, people expect me to be happy and perfect. It is tiring. But being here with you, learning these things… it feels real.” Ethan listened carefully. He shared small pieces of his past. “I watched this city change for centuries. I saw the first bridges built. I saw wars and celebrations. But I could never join them fully. I was always watching from the outside. You are the first person in a very long time who makes me feel like I can be part of something.” The conversation made the big penthouse feel warmer. They were not touching or being romantic. They were building something stronger real trust and understanding. In the afternoon, Ethan decided to try something more difficult. “Your healing power is also waking up,” he said. “Watch this.” He made a small cut on his own arm with a knife. Blood came out for a moment, but then it stopped and the skin healed completely in front of her eyes. Sophia looked surprised but not scared. “That is amazing. Can I try?” Ethan nodded. He made another small cut on his hand. Sophia focused and touched the wound gently. A soft warm light came from her fingers. The cut closed slowly. It was not perfect yet, but it worked. She laughed with happiness. “I healed you!” “You are progressing very fast,” Ethan said. His voice had a note of worry. “But fast progress can also make the hunters sense you more easily. We need to practice hiding your energy too.” They worked on hiding techniques for a long time. Sophia learned to make her power quiet like turning down the volume on a radio. Ethan showed her how to create a small protective shield around herself. The training was hard and tiring, but Sophia did not complain. She was strong and determined. As evening came, the city lights started turning on outside the windows. The Harbour Bridge glowed beautifully in the distance. Sophia sat on the sofa, looking tired but satisfied. “I feel different now,” she said. “Stronger. But also more scared. What if my powers make the hunters come faster?” Ethan stood near the window, looking out at the night city. “They are already coming. But we will be ready. I have lived through many dangers. With you, I feel more prepared than ever before.” They ate a simple dinner together grilled fish, vegetables, and rice. While eating, they planned the next days. Sophia had important movie meetings coming up. Ethan would follow her secretly again. They discussed ways to make her daily life safer. After dinner, Sophia practiced one more time. She lifted a heavy chair across the room without touching it. It moved smoothly and landed gently. She felt proud of herself. Ethan watched her with quiet respect. For the first time in centuries, he had someone who understood his secret world. But as the night grew deeper, Ethan suddenly felt strong danger signals. “They are testing the building again,” he said quietly. “Not attacking yet, but watching from different directions. We must stay alert.” Sophia stood beside him at the window. They looked at the beautiful night view of Sydney together. The lights shone like stars on the ground. “Whatever comes tomorrow,” she said, “we will handle it. Together.” Ethan nodded. “Together.” The city continued its normal life below them, but high in the penthouse, two people from completely different worlds were preparing for bigger battles ahead. Sophia’s powers were awakening fast. The hunters were getting closer. And their connection was growing stronger with every passing day.
