The Final Proposal

In the days that followed, the Astor family tension continued to function, hinting at a hidden storm. Margaret Astor, ever the cautious lady, had become dynamically questionable of her kid's approach to acting. He was far away, engaged, and at this point gave off an impression of being excited about the obligation to Sophia that she had so meticulously coordinated. Margaret concluded that it was time to take charge of the situation. She brought Alexander into her private parlor one night, and the scent of jasmine from the candles she had lit filled the air. Alexander concealed his appearance as he entered the room. He understood his mother was okay to recognize when something was astray. He sat down opposite her and said, "Mother," welcoming her. "You require my presence." Margaret gave a small grin, but it did not reach her eyes. "Yes, my dear. "Since we haven't had a legitimate conversation in a while, I thought it was long overdue." Alexander skewed his head, keeping things under control for her to continue. "You've been distant of late," Margaret said, her tone loose, but her eyes were sharp. "I've noticed that you haven't been as involved with Sophia as I would have expected. Dear, is there something on your mind right now?" Alexander covered a groan, beforehand. Think about where this conversation was going. He cautiously avoided discussing Sophia and replied, "I've been occupied with bequest matters." "There is a lot of work to be done." "Obviously," Margaret said in a light tone that had now taken on an edge. However, I am unable to resist the urge to believe that there is more to it than that. You appear to be distracted. Alexander responded to her gaze, realizing that his mother would not be pacified by anything he said. He finally said, "I have a lot at the forefront of my thoughts," according to his tone. "However, there's nothing I can't handle." Margaret gave a fixed grin and slightly leaped forward. "Alexander, I think it's time for us to be honest with one another. I've perceived how every now and again you've been effective money management energy with that house guardian, Isabella." Despite the fact that Alexander's heart barely beat, he maintained his cool demeanor. "She does housework, Mother. As with the rest of the staff, I occasionally see her. Margaret's tone became melancholy as her eyes became narrower. "Make an effort not to play with me, Alexander. I can see how you check her out, as you know. Even more importantly, I've observed the manner in which she examines you. Because he was aware that any response he gave could only serve to exacerbate the situation, Alexander kept his mouth shut. Margaret continued, her voice harsh and cold, "I don't have the foggiest idea of your thought process, but I'll advise you that you have an obligation to this family." to this legacy. You can't risk everything we've worked for a passing interest." Despite Alexander's overwhelming outrage at his mother's words, he fought the urge to panic. He said quietly and consistently, "Isabella is definitely not a passing captivation." "She's more than that," I say. Margaret's demeanor was hidden, and she remained seated straight. She said, her voice like ice, "I won't permit you to discard your life for a worker." "You will focus solely on your commitment to Sophia, and you will end everything that this is with her, that proves everything." Alexander's determination grew as he saw his mother's expression. He said, "No," without moving, the word echoing in the air like a test. In shock, Margaret's eyes grew larger, and she briefly lost the ability to speak. She was overcome with rage when she finally felt at ease with herself. "You want to test me? After everything I've done for you and everything I've given up?" Alexander got up, tears welling up in his eyes. "I've done everything you asked of me, Mother. I've carried on with my life in accordance with your beliefs and principles. Nevertheless, this is where I take a position. I won't give up Isabella. I adore her. Margaret stood up, her anger making her face pale. "Alexander, if you continue down this path, you will lose everything. You won't be left with anything: your legacy, your place in this family. Alexander looked at her with a fearless demeanor. "Then, so be it," he said, his voice strong. I'd rather not have anything with Isabella than everything without her, in my opinion. They basically just stared at each other for a short time, straining the air between them. Then, without another word, Alexander turned and left the room, his heart pulsating in his chest. Margaret stayed there, shivering with rage, her mind hustling. She realized she couldn't and wouldn't let this go. Alexander wouldn't let a simple worker ruin everything. She would have to find a different way to protect the Astor family history if he didn't follow common sense. As she created a methodology, a risky shimmer entered her eyes. She would do anything to ensure Isabella's permanent exclusion from her child's life.
