Gregor vs Alexei

The cell I was sitting in smelled of vomit and sweat. There were two other officers in the room and they were watching me as if I were some unhinged animal. I guess in a way I was, but they treated me like I was an exhibit at a zoo.

"Aye she is a pretty thing, a bit bedraggled. Looks like she was getting ridden hard by Mackenzie." They both started laughing and I flipped them off. Let these small-minded idiots think what they want.

"I heard Americans are quite liberal, especially when it comes to partners." Where were these dweebs getting their information? Probably too many trashy reality television shows. I couldn't blame them though, I too liked to partake in trashy television.

"I am here for Annabelle Devreaux." My head perked up at a thick Russian accent, and a broad-shouldered man with piercing green eyes and wavy blond hair walked into the dank office. The two cops practically tripped over themselves to cater to what this guy wanted.

I wasn't sure who he was but I did not care, he was my savior and he was getting me out of this cesspit. I heard a familiar woof outside the door and my heart leaped, they managed to get Magnus released as well. Looks like I owe this beautiful stranger a debt.

"Alexei, we can't release her. She assaulted two officers and a civilian." The constable waddled out of the back office and Alexei sneered at him. He dug around in his satchel and handed the fat man a stack of papers.

"She was well within her rights to do what she did and as for the individual who made the complaint it turns out that she was trespassing and threatening my client. Now I could ring up Judge Stewart, I am sure he would like to look further into this." The constable ran a hand through his thinning hair.

"No, ye don't have to get him involved. Take the lass, she is more trouble than I want to deal with." One of the officers came over and leered at me as he opened the cell door. Alexei walked over and draped his jacket over my shoulders and I inhaled deeply. It was scented with his cologne which was divine, ok I wanted to roll in that sandalwood and pine scent.

I followed him up some dingy stairs and saw Mack straining to hold Magnus back. I flew past Alexei and hugged the drooling dog and he whimpered and cried. I wanted to cry as well, I thought for sure I was not going to be seeing him again.

"Alexei, I had it handled, I was just coming to get her." Magnus and I watched the two men sizing each other up. I shivered and hunkered down closer to the dog trying to stay warm.

"Gregor, I was hired by her Great Aunt to handle her estate and to watch over her." The air crackled with testosterone and electricity. Normally this would be part of some reverse harem fantasy but this was the real world and we were attracting a lot of attention.

"Ok boys can we go home please, we can discuss it there. I need food and Magnus needs food." They continued staring at each other and I sighed. I was depending on them for a ride home because I had no phone and no money on me.

"Hello? Gentlemen?" Alexei smiled at me and nodded.

"Very well I will let Gregor take you and Magnus back to Sheep's Lodge and we can discuss it further there." He bowed and walked off down the street. I blinked at Mack and he was grinding his teeth as he watched the other man disappear around the corner.

"Soooo you and Alexei..." He turned his icy glare on me and I shrank back, so this was a touchy subject. He started walking towards a black sports utility vehicle. Opening the back door, Magnus jumped in and lay down with a groan. I hopped in the front seat and pulled the jacket tighter around me. Inhaling deeply I wanted to purr as the smell washed over me.

I felt eyes on me, Mack was watching me as I practically rubbed the jacket all over my face. A blush crept up my neck and I coughed.

"What? I'm cold and the coat is pretty warm, not to mention it is soft. Come on Mack feel how soft it is." Something dark flickered behind his eyes. He grunted and put the SUV in drive. Alright, so he was going to be ignoring me for the whole ride home.

"Well whatever is going on between you and Alexei, thank you for getting Magnus out of the doggy jail. Also thank you for coming for me." Surprise flickered on his face again but he went back to ignoring me. Sighing I watched the landscape speed by and felt my eyes grow heavy.
