The Nekkid Highlander

I still wanted to go investigate my property, but the vet had to go and help Emmy with the emu, so I was left to explore on my own. I detoured to the house and told Sinclair we were getting a new addition and to get a stall ready. I was going to go explore. He gave me a weird look and said to have fun. I narrowed my eyes at him. Smiling, he waved me out the door and went back to making his wife giggle and coo. They were adorable but he was acting weird. I stalked towards the stable, my mood somewhat dampened by Sinclair’s weirdness. I was getting an emu! The wind cut through me, and I shivered. I almost turned back around and decided to get lost in the manor, making notes of everything that needed to be fixed. I heard Magnus’ frantic barking, I hoisted my pack up on my shoulders and hurried towards his barking. If that wench was back on my property, I was going to find a place to bury her body. Alright, maybe that was being a little dramatic, only I was tired of that stupid lady and her crap. Sighing, I readied myself for the drama that was about to unfold, especially since Magnus seemed to have the intruder pinned. “Ye blasted mutt give me my kilt back! Stop ye monster!” I cringed and my jaw dropped when I saw Gregor Mackenzie wrestling with Magnus and his butt cheeks exposed to the elements. He saw me and my eyes dropped to below his waist, and I felt the blush come over me as I turned my back on him. “Call the dog off, will ye!” I was trying hard not to think of the naked man standing in my courtyard. I was failing miserably though, and I have to say that even though it was cold, I was still impressed. “Damn ye to the seven hells woman, will you call off the beasty.” Snickering I looked up at the sky and whistled to Magnus and snapped my fingers. I heard his nails clicking on the stones and Mack cursing and grumbling. “So why are you here Mack? Last I heard you wanted me to find another handyman and I was in trouble or some other drivel.” There was a lot of grunting and cursing. I heard him come up behind me and I could smell leather and cedar on him. “Ye can turn around. I wanted to be done with ye, but Sinclair has a way of guilting a man into keeping his word.” He was so close, and I was really trying not to think about his perfect buttocks and his plumbing. Rolling my eyes, I stroked Magnus’ ears absently. “Right, whatever, but why are you here? Also, why are you wearing a kilt?” He grunted and turned me around to face him. I could feel the blush stain my cheeks as I remembered his naked form. He snapped his fingers to get my attention. “Whatever lewd thoughts ye are having stop. Sinclair told me ye needed someone to escort you to the cave since Jacob Lee is gone.” He gave me an accusing look as if I ran the veterinarian off. It was NOT my fault; it was his needy assistant that demanded his attention. “Fine, I was told to get back before the storm hits. Tell me, don’t tell me. I don’t care Mack; I am not about to stand here freezing my t**s off because you are being a moody shit.” I made my way towards the giant black horse who pawed the ground with her massive hoof, and she was glowering at me. I tried to climb up into the saddle, but the horse must have been a Fresian mix so she was huge, and I realized I needed a damn hand to get up on this big horse. Mack was leaning against the fence with a smug look on his face. “A hand please?” He continued to watch me struggle and I grit my teeth. “Keep it up and I will tell Magnus to rip your kilt off again.” He moved so fast I barely blinked, and he was standing in my personal space. He grabbed Ebony’s reins and he leaned down so close I thought he was going to kiss me. Oh, sweet hormones what the heck was wrong with me? “Lass, are ye telling me that you want to see me naked? Ye don’t need to call the dog if that is what ye want.” Oh, holy moly was the cold highlander hitting on me? I slapped him in the chest, and he grinned at me. “Just give me a hand up or get out of here.” I cleared my throat and really wished I did not see him with his twig and berries hanging out. He offered his hands and I stepped up on them as he helped me into the saddle. He handed the reins to me, and I patted the horse’s neck. He swung himself up into the saddle of a huge black and white horse, I squealed internally as I realized it was a Gypsy Vanner. It seems like Aunt Melinda had great taste in animals. Maybe not a handyman, but again, as long as he didn’t speak, he was a prime specimen that would be any girl’s wet dream. “I was at my sister’s wedding anniversary; we like to celebrate in the old ways which mean wearing kilts. I did not have time to change because Sinclair is convinced ye would get lost if ye went riding on ye own.” He still looked smug; I couldn’t help admiring that he did look sexy up on the horse in a kilt. “Aren’t you cold though?” He let out a laugh and dug his heels into the horse’s side and he took off out of the courtyard. I clicked my tongue and dug my heels into Ebony’s side, and she let out a whinny as she took off after her friend. I had to get my bearings and remember I needed to relax and just become one with the horse. I was going to enjoy this, even if I was going to be going to the cave with Mack.
