10 Kane didn’t sleep, but I ended up dozing off for a couple of hours in his arms. Or so I thought. When I finally woke up, it was midafternoon. “Why did you let me sleep so long?” I asked Kane, as I got ready for a much needed shower. After my days locked in the hospital-like room without a proper bath, I was feeling like I couldn’t be near myself. He ran a hand through his damp hair. He too had spent many days without cleaning up, but now he looked sharp with a five o’clock shadow and his fresh clothes. “I had been out for a long time and got some rest that way.
