Everything had happened so quickly once we discovered Laurel had escaped. I had sounded the alarm, sent patrols out to find her and bring her back to face justice. It was a crime on Dragoona to attack a dragon of higher rank, but also to try and kidnap their mate by force. Our laws allowed for challenges over a mate, that was proper etiquette. If another male wanted your mate, they had to challenge you to a fight to the death. Kidnapping another’s mate against their will or by force was not permitted and Laurel knew that. It means her punishment would be severe and without mercy. I was so angry that I had made up my mind that I was going to be the one to execute her. We just had to find her first.
