Chapter 15 : Bound by Darkness
Zahira approached her with a smirk on her face, explaining that the pain was caused by the potion she had been forced to drink. "You see, my dear," she said, "now you can never harm Reza. You are bound to him, and he holds the power to command you. Accept your fate, and it may not be so terrible for you."
Fae's emotions were conflicted as she lay on the ground in pain. Part of her was relieved that she couldn't go through with her plan to kill Reza, but another part of her was angry and frustrated. She didn't want to be bound to him, to be at his mercy and forced to do his bidding. The thought of being under his control made her feel sick. He was evil, truly evil. As she lay there, tears streaming down her face, she couldn't help but wonder how she had ended up in this situation.
Her thoughts drifted to her little sister Nae. She wondered if Nae had made it to Najariyah, or if she was still wandering aimlessly in the desert. Fae's heart ached at the thought of never seeing her sister again. Hopelessness and despair wash over her, realizing that there was little to no chance she could escape and reunite with her sister. The thought of being bound to Reza forever filled her with a sense of dread, and she felt like she had lost all control over her own life.
Reza watched as Fae writhed in pain on the ground, unable to carry out her attempt to kill him. One part of him was satisfied that she would never be able to escape his control, but another part felt a twinge of guilt at seeing her in such agony. He couldn't understand why he was feeling this way towards a woman who was just a means to an end for him. She was special, but at the same time, she was no one to him.
Reza had never cared for anyone this way, and this new feeling was foreign and unsettling to him. He tried to shake it off and focus on the task at hand, but the feeling lingered. He looked at Fae and thought : what was it about her that made me feel this way? He couldn't put his finger on it. One thing was sure, he must never allow those emotions cloud his judgment.

Fae’s world had shattered into pieces. She was trapped, bound to Reza by some dark magic, and couldn't even think straight. As she stumbled into her room, she collapsed onto the floor and the tears began to flow. Her body was trembling with fear and anguish, and she couldn't control the sobs that racked her frame. It felt like she was drowning in a sea of despair and hopelessness.
For what seemed like hours, Fae lay on the floor, crying and shaking uncontrollably. Feeling like she had lost everything that mattered to her, and she didn't know how to go on. But eventually, she forced herself to calm down, taking deep breaths and wiping away her tears.
What was the point of living anymore? She wondered if death was the only escape from this situation. Maybe the woman in the cage was right. Fae was ready to give up and would rather die than help Reza in his mission to force the Unmar upon everyone. She got up and walked to the balcony. Her stride was comparable to a dead man walking. She looked down at the balcony and thought : maybe this is the only solution. She closed her eyes and was ready to allow herself to fall when a voice pulled her away from the edge of the balcony.
When she opened her eyes, it was Reza. His face closed and her eyes dark, filled with anger “I can’t even trust you with your own life now ?” he said, holding her tighter. Fae grinned as the pain intensified.
"You will not get rid of me that easily," he said. "Not after showing me what you can do for me."
Fae shuddered at his words.
"But since you are too stubborn to be left alone," Reza continued, "I will teach you to behave. You will learn to respect me as your Basharite and obey the laws of Unmar, whether it be willingly or by force."
It seems though no matter all her attempts, every one of her actions ended up turning against her. How could she live like this, forced to submit to a man she despised and follow laws that went against everything she believed in?
After the incident on the balcony, Fae was forced to learn the laws of the Unmar. Every day, she was tortured whenever she refused to do something that aligned with the Unmar. At first, she resisted, but as the weeks went by, the torture wore her down. She became weaker and weaker, and her visions became more frequent and intense.
Reza took advantage of her weakened state, and forced her to memorize the laws of the Unmar. He would quiz her on the laws every day, and if she got even one wrong, she would be punished severely. Fae quickly learned that the only way to avoid the pain was to memorize the laws perfectly, so she spent every waking moment studying them.
Fae was no longer the woman she used to be. She had been broken, stripped of her identity, and forced to conform to the rules of the Unmar. She knew every law and regulation by heart and lived her life as a true follower. The torture and the visions had taken a toll on her mind and body, and now she was just a shadow of her former self.
Reza took advantage of her weakened state and made her his personal oracle. He would demand to know about her visions, and he would use them to his advantage, but the first vision of Fae was yet to happen. Fae had no choice but to comply, as her life and well-being were in his hands.
As time passed, Fae's visions became more and more frequent, and Reza's power and influence grew. Fae became the most valuable asset to Reza, and he made sure to keep her under his control at all times.
