CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
Already the Warner house looked beautiful. When Ruger called his mom to say they wouldn’t be there for lunch, she was very understanding. Pru had dozens of questions about the previous night and Ruger did a good job of answering them without lying directly. That the distinction had to be made broke her heart.
After leaving Drew at her apartment, they hurried over to Ruger’s parents’, but lunch was thoroughly over by the time they arrived. They were both put to work without delay and hadn’t seen much of each other since.
At the kitchen island with Bri, Lyssa and Suzette, the women were allocated the task of folding linen napkins into fancy shapes. A new table had been set up beyond the back door where the napkins would be displayed behind the food.
