Why me? I take the golden chalice that is handed to me, raise it to my lips and drink the ichor that is inside, feeling the thickness of it slide down my throat, the sweet taste overpowering my tongue. Why me? I feel the weight of the circlet pressing on my head, already I feel the weight of it pressing down on my shoulders. Why me!? Without me telling it, my body stood up from the seat as the man’s voice boomed around the room we were standing in. I want to scream the words that are screaming in my mind. I try to open my mouth but it remains closed. I’m not in control here. All I can do is watch through my own eyes as I am presented to the other people in the room, glowing in a golden light that is emitting from my own skin, a divine light brought out from the ichor I had a drink of just seconds before. “I appoint you as Olympia, Goddess of Unity.” WHY ME!? I feel the scream clawing at my throat, it wants to come out. I want to slam the circlet to the ground, break it… something! Instead, I felt my lips smile as I turned to the man who had addressed me by my name. The words that came out were not what I wanted to speak and I felt betrayed by my own voice and words as the crystal clear tone rang out throughout the room as I faced everyone else in the room and saw them for what they truly were. My extended family, the Olympians. “I accept the role as Goddess of Unity and I will gladly act out my role and responsibilities as my title given by my father dictates.
