I sat at the bar just down the street from the pack house, nursing another whiskey and listening to the jazz band playing. My thoughts have been everywhere lately, ever since Acyn and Jonathan got back with their mates from the city.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy for them, but everything was supposed to get easier. In some instances it has but now I have a new problem. Loneliness. It’s tough being the fifth wheel when just over a year ago it used to be just the three of us. I suppose every friendship goes through this if you’ve been like brothers since newborn pups, but looking at how happy Acyn and Jon were making Alora and Edayna, it stirred up the desire to have someone in my life to love.
The pack had done well with Acyn and Jon being gone and I was here. All
