~ (Lily's POV) ~ The question hung thick in the air. Fuck! What the f**k have I done? My breath hitched as my mind raced for an answer. Could I say I read it in an article about him? No. That would sound creepy and stalkery. I opened my mouth twice to answer, but closed it again. He was still staring at me. “Um… Paige. Paige told me.” The lie came smoother than I expected. “Oh... okay.” He shrugged. Hopefully, he believed it and wouldn’t ask Paige later. I walked back to the coffee machine and brewed fresh coffee beans. I stared at the non-dairy creamer for some time, contemplating using whole milk instead so that he'd fall terribly ill— or die. I was regretting reminding him he was lactose intolerant because then I could use regular milk and claim that I wasn't aware. Sighin
