Chapter 5: The High Queen's Visit

“Our army has tripled in almost 4 weeks my lady, and there are still people coming. Fae, human and many other species that live in Edrait and beyond.” General Crini smiled as he stood in his tent with Princess Rain

“That is good news General. But what of the High Queen’s army?”

“I’m afraid that her army is still stronger, and bigger, then ours. But not by much my lady” he sighed as a soldier rushed in

“Sir” he bowed “It’s the High Queen, she’s here with her new General”

“Thank you, please send Rocky and Pooky to their tents. Explain to them the situation if they don’t already know. Rain, I would suggest you go to their tent as well, and stay hidden and keep quiet. Take the back way, and hurry” he said and she rushed out the back of the tent. Shortly Rocky, Pooky and Rain were hiding in Rocky’s tent, waiting for the High Queen to leave

“Why is she here?” Pooky whispered

“If my hunch is correct, it’s about the lie that Crini sent her about our deaths” Rocky suggested

“It makes sense, she would want to confirm it” Rain sighed “But what she catches on? Because I’m sure that she would much rather have killed us herself, especially me”

“And what of this new General of hers?” Pooky asked

“I’m certain that it’s Henry. I can feel it” Rocky snarled

“Helen and the girls, what of them. What if he finds them?” Rain gasped

“I’m sure they’re safe in their tents. But still, I am worried about them too, and the two of you” Rocky smiled as loud voices sounded from outside the tent. It was Crini and the High Queen.

“Don’t lie to me General Crini, I know that they are alive” the Queen snarled

“What prove do you have that they are alive your majesty?” he asked

“Because General I would have felt it if my niece were dead, and you have refused to show me their bodies”

“And what if I burned them?” the general sneered. A loud smack rang out.

“Do not anger me further Crini, do you hear me? Now tell me where the brat and her friends are or else you’ll lose your head and I’ll kill everyone here” she snarled. There was a pause before he responded

“Fine, yes they are alive”

“That’s more like it. Now, where are they?”

“I don’t know. They were here for a few days then left to who knows where” another pause

“If I choose to believe you and go searching for them then you can keep your life. But if you’re lying then I’ll kill you” the High Queen said

“And what if you don’t believe me?”

“Then I’ll still kill you and everyone here. But not before I make you watch me kill your daughter” a tense pause as Rocky looked over to Rain, she was still.

“How do you know that?”

“Do you underestimate my knowledge General? I know all my sister’s secrets thanks to the Huskanaso Fruit” she scoffed. “Now General Crini, I happen to not believe you. But because I’m feeling generous today I won’t kill anyone. You General Blackwater” she shouted

“Yes, Your Majesty” a rough voice came. It was Henry

“Find the Princess Rain and her friends. Tell them if they hide I will destroy everything they hold dear” she ordered

“We have to go to her” Rain whispered

“But Rain” Pooky gasped

“Didn’t you hear her, if we don’t she’ll destroy everything we hold dear. And I refuse to lose anyone else that I love” she snarled as she stood and straitened her shirt

“She’s right Pooky. But either way, I’ll make sure that you two live.” Rocky said as he and his sister also stood and dusted off the dirt from their legs

“Fine, but I don’t like this” she gulped as they exited the tent.

“Aunt Cleopatra” Rain said, pulling up all the courage that she could, which wasn’t much. The High Queen turned and her eyes widened as she looked at her niece, Rocky and Pooky

“Ah Rain, it has been to long” she smiled as she glided over

“Don’t come any closer” Rain snarled as she pulled out her sword

“Oh, come now princess, you don’t expect me to fight you with such barbaric weapons?” she laughed as she tried taking a step closer. But Rain raised her sword higher “Fine, have it your way Rain. If it must be war between us then so be it. But under one condition”

“And what is that?” Rain sneered

“You and your companions complete a simple challenge for me, and for the sake of the prophecy”

“The prophecy?”

“Oh but of course, do you not recall the prophecy states that a challenge will be set once two souls have become one. Assuming that you and your male companion here have recognized and accepted that is.” Rocky and Rain blushed as they looked down. Almost ashamed that it hadn’t happened yet

“Oh, you mean it hasn’t happened yet?”

“And what’s it to you huh?” Pooky snarled

“Silence you pesky child” the Queen barked

“Don’t you dare speak to my sister, or the princess like that.” Rocky snarled, preparing himself for a fight, if it came down to it. But one glare from the High Queen made him back off

“Now explain why you haven’t recognized”

“We’ve been too busy to worry about such things” Rain muttered and her aunt laughed

“It doesn’t work like that dear. Now if I were you, I would find a way to recognize as fast as you can”

“But why must we rush such things. After all you said that recognition doesn’t work like that”

“Because I want you dead child”

“Over my dead body” Rocky snarled again

“Listen Rain, keep your dog silent or I’ll have to put him down for you. Now out of my sight before I kill everyone here” she sneered as she walked off. Once she left, Rain sunk to the ground

“Rain are you okay?” Rocky asked as he knelt next to her

“I’ll be okay. It's a lot to take in” she sighed

“What do you want me to do?” Pooky asked

“Get your mother for me, and make sure that your sisters are safe” she replied as Rocky took her to her tent. Moments later, she was sitting on a chair and Rocky was next her “What are we going to do Rocky? We can’t force recognition, it’s impossible” she sighed

“Now that doesn’t sound like the Rain I’ve come to know” Rocky teased and she smiled

“You always seem to know how to make me smile don’t you?” she chuckled

“They say I have a gift for that” he smiled as Helen came in

“I heard what happened, are you okay your majesty?” she asked as she placed a cool hand on the princesses’ head

“I will be, a little shook up, but thank you.” She smiled. Once Helen left, Rain leaned back and took Rocky’s hand in hers “Will you stay with me tonight Rocky?”

“If it’ll ease your troubled mind. Then I’ll be happy to my lady” he smiled as he looked into her green eyes, and she into his brown and blue eyes.

A spark struck, and two souls pulled closer and closer till they joined together 'A-Aila?' Rocky sent her as their minds connected. She shuddered at the sound of her Soul name

‘Jael?' she sighed, making him to shudder at the sound of his own Soul name 'Can it be happening now? When we’re on the brink of war' she asked as she stroked his cheek

'But think my Aila, when it’s all over, we’ll be bringing a new life into a time of eternal peace.' Rocky sighed as he cupped her hand in his

“Jael.” She sighed, testing the name on her tongue, “You are mine, and I am yours” she smiled as Rocky pulled her to him

“Yes, and I swear to you, that I will dedicate my life to you and our little one, you have my word” he said as he cupped her cheek. “May I kiss you?” he asked

“There is no need to ask” she sighed as she leaned over. But as their lips were about to touch Pooky barged in, and Rocky snarled

“What do you need sister” he groaned as he stood

“General Crini needs the two of you in his tent immediately.” she smiled and her brother groaned again

“Tell him we’ll be right there” Rain said as she stood and Pooky left

“Rain” Rocky pleaded but she shushed him

'The quicker we deal with Crini the quicker we can return to each other’s arms' she smiled as they left. Once they arrived at the general’s tent they entered

“Sit, please” he sighed

“What was so important that you had to pull us from our preparations?” Rain asked, avoiding his gaze

“I understand that you two need to get things done. But I won’t be able to rest if I don’t clear the air.” he sighed “It has come to my attention that you heard what transpired between the High Queen and I”

“We did. She said that you are my father, is this true?” Rain asked

“Yes. Now Rain, I want you to hear me out on why I wasn’t present during your childhood”

“Don’t. My mother told me that you were a powerful leader, and the army kept pulling you from us. I still believe that you are a strong leader, and I understand why you were absent, and I’m not angry with you. Though I wish that you were there, I still forgive you” she smiled

“Thank you” Crini sighed

“But sir, if I may be so bold to ask, why was I summoned?” Rocky asked

“Because I have a favor to ask of you. No matter what happens, you and your sister are to stay by Rain’s side, do you understand? I lost Rain’s mother, and I won’t lose my daughter, not again”

“You don’t even need to ask sir” Rocky smiled

“Good, now you're dismissed” Rain and Rocky stood and exited the tent

'Should we return the tent my Jael?' Rain whispered into her companion’s mind. Making him shiver again at the sound of his Soul name, and he nodded. But before they could return to the tent, Pooky blocked their path

“Not so fast you two, I need your help”

“Can’t it wait till tomorrow sister?” Rocky wined

“Don’t give me that attitude, now come on” she said as she pulled the pair’s hands off towards the barracks.

Hours later, Rain and Rocky were finally freed from their tasks. But only because the dark clouds in the sky finally broke and it started raining. 'Look Aila, your namesake is falling from the sky' Rocky teased in Rain’s mind as he pulled her against him

'Hmm, yes Jael. But don’t you hear the thunder as well?' she whispered as her hand slipped under his tunic and a roll of thunder sounded overhead.

“And the lightning” he shivered as a bright flash lit up the sky, and they rushed to her tent.

“I hope that there aren’t any more interruptions tonight” Rain sighed as she squeezed the water out of her hair

“I don’t think there will be, not in this weather anyways. But I'm curious Rain. Why are we able to send to each other?” Rocky asked as he slipped his shirt off. It was at that moment that Rain could see her new lover. Tall and thin, with dark hair and mismatched eyes, and a warm smile and strong arms to welcome her into eternity

'Because, when a couple recognize, not only their souls connect. Their minds do as well, Jael, my love' she smiled as she kissed him. Taking Rocky by surprise

“So strong for one so small” he teased as he lifted her into his arms and placed her on the cot

“You flirt” she giggled as he started kissing her. Over and over again, his lips met hers and his hands stroked her hair. He was hesitating. So, Rain grabbed one of his hands and guided it down her torso, down further to her thigh.

'Aila, this is my first time' he gasped as pulled away

'I know, it’s my first too' she smiled as she pulled him back to her.

After a moment, Rocky’s lips trailed down to Rain’s neck, where he nipped the pale skin

'J-Jael, please' she gasped as her small hand grabbed his hair, and he smiled and kissed her lips again.

'You are so beautiful Aila' he muttered into her mind and she sighed and turned him over so she was over him. Her hands flitting down his chest. Down his stomach. Further still till she stopped at the buttons of his trousers, causing her to smile to herself

“What’s so funny?” Rocky smiled

“I’m thinking of the ways to tease you” she giggled as she stroked him

'Oh Aila, you are a tease in on itself' Rocky groaned as he sat up and pulled Rain into him and started kissing her again. His hands started to unlace the back of her leather vest. “Why in the name of the Gods do you still have this on” he growled and she giggled again as it came undone. Rocky removed the vest as fast as he could and tossed it to the floor. Then started to take off her blouse while Rain began undoing his trousers.

'It's so cold Jael' she gasped as the chill hit her bare skin, and she shivered

'Don’t worry love I’ll keep you warm' he chuckled as he rolled himself back on top if her, and started kissing her again. She felt his hands going down to her own trousers, still wet from the rain. Shortly Rocky removed her trousers, and had removed his own as well. As a flash of lightning lit up the tent. In that brief moment, the pair took in the other’s body, pale and quivering.

'Are you ready for this my Jael?' Rain asked and he nodded as he slipped back on top of her

'If you want me to stop my Aila, tell me.' he whispered and she nodded, as she wrapped her arms wrapped around his neck, and her legs around his waist. So Rocky slipped himself into his new lover. He heard her groan from both pain and pleasure and gripped him tight. Once he was all the way inside, Rocky paused to let Rain get accustomed to having him inside her. After a moment, she kissed him

'Don’t stop Jael' she muttered against his lips. So he started thrusting, as the pain faded the pleasure mounted. Soon she was begging him to go faster, and he smiled as he complied. But soon enough he felt like he was going to explode from the pleasure.

'Aila, I-I can’t hold it in any longer' he groaned he placed his head on her shoulder, and continued to thrust as fast as he could

'Yes' she cried as her nails dug into his skin, making him growl. 'Send us to the stars' she pleaded as she started pulling him closer. If anyone heard their cries of pleasure from outside. They would have drowned out by the thunderstorm. But inside nothing else mattered, not the rain, not the war or the High Queen, only them. Their two souls became one, and created a third. It was early in the morning when the final throws of their passion subsided. As they lay in each other’s arms, smiling as they listened to the morning birds sing their songs

'I love you Aila' Rocky sighed as he brushed his lips against hers

‘And I love you Jael' she giggled as she kissed him.
