After meticulously counting the prisoners, the man, wearing old long black sleeves, entered the tent, where he saw a man sitting on a stool. "Fifteen. I counted fifteen women and five men," he said. "What about the others, Maddox?" the head of the invaders said with a record book in his hand. "We killed 'em, Brix. The others escaped," Maddox replied nonchalantly. Brixton screamed and glared at Maddox, who was puffing on a cigarette. "Fvcking i***t! Why did you and your men let it happen?! We need those healers! You should have never let them escape this fvcking island!" "Plus, it didn’t even help when we found Dayanara’s grave," Brixton added. He spotted Dayanara's grave when they entered through the tribe's graveyard. Something in him sparked a desire to seize control of the tribe when they lost the person they sought. "That fvcking b***h died. She’s a powerful healer, but she died on this island? Fvck it!" he shouted. "They had boats, Brixton! Fvcking boats and fvcking warriors! Who would have thought that after Dayanara died, they still had some powerful warriors left? Seventeen of my men died!" Maddox shouted back. "And don’t fvcking worry. I found the old chieftain’s daughter when I killed him earlier," he added. "How did you know it was his daughter? As for your men, you'll be compensated for that, but those fvcking healers will fetch a high price in their fvcking heads, Maddox. Think about it, but you let them escape, and now we only have twenty! Twenty of the Nitira Tribe!" Brixton said and slammed his hands on the table. He was upset. The Nitira Tribe is their key to becoming rich, but now they only have a few of them left to sell. "Oh, it was his daughter, I’m sure of it," Maddox said, recalling the woman’s reaction earlier when he slashed the chieftain’s neck. "I saw a ring with a rare gem on her hand and a sun tattoo in her arm, the symbol of the worshiped god of the tribe, the same with the chieftain I killed earlier when I counted the prisoners while the others didn’t have anything in their bodies," Maddox said. "If you want, I'll have my men go after the escapees," Maddox continued, crossing his arms. "Wow, and here I thought you were fvcking brainless who only knows brawls and brawn," Brixton said while Maddox scoffed at the insult he received. "No, don’t follow them. We have to bring the prisoner back to Arcane City, so I need your men to do that. I'll have Diego follow the escapees, and if she’s the daughter of the chieftain, she’ll definitely fetch a high price. It will compensate us," Brixton added. "Fine by me," Maddox said. Brixton shook his head and watched Maddox go out of the tent, hand in his pocket. Brixton took his phone out and dialed Diego's number. "Yes, Brix. Any job for me?" Diego asked. "Yeah. I want you to locate the Nitira Tribe who escaped the island and bring them to Arcane City's black market," Brixton ordered. There was a pause on the other line. "Diego…" "I heard it. I heard you loud and clear, Brix. I got it. I'll have my men look for them," Diego said, and the call ended, making Brixton raise his eyebrows. "Fvcking people are testing my patience today," he whispered, returning the phone to his pocket. Outside, Danaya witnessed the invaders ravaging her home, leaving her feeling utterly powerless as she realized there was nothing she could do to stop them. "Lady Danaya." Danaya glanced and saw her friend, Felicia, walking towards her. "Felicia," she whispered. "What's going to happen to us now?" Felicia asked, and when Danaya looked around her, she saw all eyes were on her, waiting for her answer. "I…I honestly don't k-know," Danaya said. "But I know one thing: we need to survive to be able to come back here and avenge our tribe," she added. "They killed my parents," Felicia said, tears falling from her eyes. "What have we done to deserve this?" she added. "I also saw them murdering my wife and son," a warrior said. "I was out fighting the invaders, and when I came back to our house, I heard screams, and I couldn't do anything. I stood there, frozen on the ground," he added, crying while repeatedly hitting his chest. "It's a nightmare. This is not real, is it?" another said, but Danaya knew it wasn't a dream. This is their reality now. "Load them on the ship! We're going back to Arcane City!" Maddox yelled. His men then pushed the cage inside a large ship they brought to invade the island. It was dark and cold inside. Starving, Danaya pondered how many hours or days it had been since they left the island. None of them have a clue, but they heard the anchor being dropped. A few minutes later, a man opened the door, making them squint their eyes as it adjusted to the sunlight. "Give them food and transport them to our building. They need to get clean before we start the auction," Brixton ordered. Whispers filled the spacious room. "I want to go home," Felicia said. Brixton, who heard this, walked towards the cage and dragged Felicia until she collided with the metal bar. Felicia screamed, and Nitira men reacted, but the invaders pointed guns at them. "No one's going home. You will rot in here until you die, got it?" Brixton said with darkened eyes as he let go of Felicia and glanced at Danaya. "Do it fast, everyone! Our clients are waiting!" he yelled and went out. Danaya pulled Felicia into a hug, and a few of the women comforted her. "I'm scared, Danaya," Felicia whispered. "We all are, Feli," Danaya whispered back. She may act tough and brave, but fear is eating her insides. "Everyone gather in the center of the cage!" Maddox said. Danaya and the rest followed, and one by one, they put food and water outside their cage. "Eat your fill," Maddox said. They didn't waste any time and ate immediately because the man might change his mind and hurt them. After they ate, they were loaded in a big truck, and when they arrived at a building's back alley, women and men ages around fifty took them one by one and led them inside, still chained. They were bathed and shabbily clothed. Men and women were separated. "Where is this?" Danaya asked her caretaker. "And what's going to happen to us?" she added. The older woman ignored her and continued scrubbing the dirt off her body. "Please, I just need to know," she whispered desperately. The older woman finally looked at her and scanned the surroundings, and when it was safe to answer, she spoke. "You're in Arcane City in the South, and they'll be selling you to the patrons of the black market." Fear crept into Danaya's body. "Please help me. I need to escape," she whispered, tears falling from her eyes, but when the older woman was about to respond, a man went inside the cleaning area and looked at them. "It's enough, Beth. Get her dressed," he said. Beth nodded her head, but before she went out, Brixton stopped her. "It's your second warning, Beth. You talk to the goods again, and I'll have Maddox kill you and display your head in the city's tower," he whispered. Beth paled and nodded as she hurriedly went out. Brixton went to Danaya and grabbed a handful of her hair. "The chieftain’s daughter," Brixton said, grinning. "Don't try to escape because you can never break the chain," he added. Danaya glared at him, and Brixton wasn't pleased with what she did, so he pulled her hair. "We've been trying to catch your tribe for years, and now that we succeeded, we won't let you escape from our grasp. Your tribe will bring us riches," he said, touching Danaya's face. Beth came back, and Brixton left. Danaya tried to talk to the older woman again, but she ignored her until she was fully dressed. Danaya was then brought to where the rest of her tribemates were as the auction began. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!" Brixton said. "Today, we have prepared goods you will surely like, but first, let's start with the weapons we acquired when we sailed," he added, and men brought out boxes full of weapons inside. "The bidding begins for our first item, a magnificent sword forged from the finest iron ore! Who will start us off with an opening bid?" Brixton asked. A few of the patrons raised their bid numbers, and a lady in a mask won the bid. "And now, we have our second item up for bidding: a remarkable bow and arrows crafted from the legendary Fjord Maple, said to be the oldest tree in the enchanted forest. Who will begin the bidding for this extraordinary piece?" Brixton asked once again and smiled, seeing more patrons raise their bidding numbers. It means a lot of money for them. The bow and arrows were won by a gentleman with a mask. In the room where Danaya and her tribemates were. Maddox barged into the room, looked around, and dragged Felicia. "Danaya!" Felicia called. "Where are you taking her?!" Danaya asked and stopped the man, but Maddox glared at her, and his men pulled her back. "No! Let me go!" Felicia said as she kicked Maddox, but the man felt nothing from what she did. "Let's go!" Maddox said and harshly dragged Felicia out. Danaya knelt on the ground, crying because of the tragic fate her tribemates had suffered. "And for our third item, we present a rare goods for everyone in this room: healers from the Nitira Tribe, known for their healing techniques and profound knowledge of natural remedies. Who will start the bidding for this invaluable resource?" Brixton said, and murmurs filled the room as Maddox brought the woman out chained and terrified. "Well, anyone?" Brixton asked. Almost all of the patrons raised their bidding numbers, making Brixton feel elated. It's finally the day; they will become rich. Felicia was won by a lady with half a million bids, and the remaining Nitira people were brought in one by one. Seeing the quantity of money that was coming into their account, Brixton was unable to describe his feelings of satisfaction at the moment. When he wants to get high, this is better than the drugs he takes. The greatest of all is money. "And now, for the fourth item, we present the rarest of them all: the Nitira tribe chieftain’s precious daughter and the next Nitira tribe's chieftain. Who will begin the bidding for this extraordinary opportunity?" Brixton said, and he felt aroused seeing all of their patrons raise their bidding numbers. Maddox brought Danaya out, and patrons began cheering. Owning the chieftain’s daughter in flesh made them esctatic. "Tell the Alpha they brought the chieftain’s daughter!" one of the bidders said. Brixton began the bidding, and the amount of money being raised dazzled him. "One billion!" The room fell into silence as a man stood up and walked down the center aisle. They all knew who the man without a mask was, for who wouldn't? He was Vladimir, leader of the Montabard clan of vampires, the cruelest of them all. No one dared stand in his way unless they were brave enough to face his wrath. "Sold!" Brixton declared, banging the gavel to seal the winning bid. Vladimir's smile twisted into a sinister grin as he ascended the stage, snatching Danaya away from Maddox and licking her face, asserting his dominance. "You're mine," he whispered, making Danaya shiver in fear and disgust. She needs to escape this hellhole!
