28 - 28 - When Leopold opened his door, it was to a serious-looking Derras, dressed in black and with his hair slicked back as if he had recently showered. Leopold smiled in greeting, but the smile was not returned. “Do you wish to come in?” he asked. Derras nodded and stepped across the threshold. Leopold clicked the door shut, and noticed how Derras scanned the room, as if he were seeking something. Or maybe ensuring something was not there. “Would you like a drink? I apologise that I have nothing prepared to eat, but if you wish, I am certain I could make something.” Derras shook his head and pulled out his screen, his eyes never meeting Leopold’s. He tapped away, then walked round the room, holding the screen out in front, sometimes raising it to the ceiling, occasionally lowering
