The middle kingdom was the land below the fairy's kingdom. The land where humans and all other creatures existed. Humans were so great that they covered the whole of middle- earth.
The humans were not immortal like the fairies were, but they were sometimes blessed with an extremely long life, which was the major difference between the fairies and the humans apart from the fairies possessing immeasurable powers and abilities.
Humans were the most dominant race in the middle kingdom.
In a little cottage under the hill, lived a lady who worked as a maid. She was very gentle and caring, which was most of her attractive features.
The lady had worked as a maid for so long in the family of the Appleridges that she had stopped seeing herself as a maid. Elaine considered the Appleridges almost like her family, but she also wanted to have her own family and a child who would wake up every day and call her mom.
Elaine had stayed single for quite a long time, which made some people make fun of her and ask her when she would stop taking care of another's family and make her own.
The Appleridge family began bearing that name when they became quite popular for their apple plantations.
The Appleridge family also tried their best to support Elaine and condemn the rumours about her loneliness, but sometimes when Elaine was sighted alone just watching the waters flow and watching nature, some people would come up to her and ask her how she felt about being alone, not with the aim of consoling her but to mock her further.
Elaine never thought about what people said because she believed that her time was going to come and her family would be perfect. Elaine never let the rude remarks of others get to her because she believed that everyone had their timing.
Elaine went home on a particular night after work and she sat in front of her cottage staring into the sky thinking about what had gone wrong in her life and why she had to face so many difficulties.
Elaine thought about why people condemned others for not having built a family as various other people had. Sometimes, the pain was so much for Elaine that she always cried her way to sleep and woke up the next morning with a swollen eye which didn't stop people from how much they embarrassed her.
How Elaine thought she could have a peaceful life for just a day. It seemed as if Elaine had grown so popular, but not just popular for the expected things. If it had come to that, Elaine never hoped for popularity, she just hoped for a normal life like others.
On a Saturday morning, Elaine packed and went to the market to get some supplies. When she got there, it was as if her popularity didn't just stop in her neighbourhood, but it had spread all over the land.
Elaine was passing by a*****e and her attention was drawn to a particular toy for children and she couldn't help but stare at it. She didn't notice that the owner of the store had noticed her. She walked up to Elaine and asked Elaine whether she wanted to get some, but the question was answered by Elaine's neighbour who happened to pass by. She told the store owner that Elaine didn't even have a family, not to mention a child to take care of.
Elaine immediately felt unhappy and she left the market without finishing her purchases. Elaine never wanted to live a life where she felt embarrassed every day or angry, but her neighbours never gave her the rest she deserved.

In the kingdom of the sky, the king was seated at a round table with his top generals and most trusted officials.
He was about to reveal to them his plans for the future. After the tragic predictions from the diviners, he had locked himself inside his chambers for three days brooding until he had come up with the perfect plan.
The plan he was about to reveal to them would protect their race and make sure that the humans never rose above them or ever dominated them.
It would ensure the continuity of their race, the answer had come to him from the pages of an old scroll.
Keep your enemies closer. The words had drifted before his eyes and he had grabbed them and dwelled on them until the plan had formed in his mind.
"I'm sure that most of you have heard the diviner's prediction." The king spoke loudly.
"Yes, your majesty." They replied with reverence.
"And are we ready to let humans rule over us? Are we to sit here and wait for the prophecy to be fulfilled," the king asked?
"No your majesty", they all replied.
"So what are we going to do? We can't just allow humans to have their way, in the name of the prophecy, which would mean putting an end to our existence", the general spoke loudly.
"That was the reason why I called for this meeting. What the prophecy is saying is a very serious issue and if you look at it from the way the prophecy said it, you will see that it means the humans reaching us is no problem, which is why we need to stop them before they find a way." the king said softly, almost as if he was whispering.
"What do you suppose we do, your majesty,"the general spoke.
"Since it has come to this, I suppose we should invade them and find out what they know about us"the king suggested.
"Your majesty, like you, has said it is a prophecy, don't you think we should just..." an official suggested before he was interrupted.
"You mean we should stand by and watch the prophecy manifest, and little by little put an end to the existence of fairies. I can't do that, I can't watch fairies die and get slaughtered when I know I can put an end to it from an early start, do you understand?" the king angrily spoke.
"Yes, we agree with the king's decisions, fairies can't just seize to exist with the king, us watching, "most of the generals and officials said.
"Since you have all agreed with my decision, I will inform you when I will send my soldiers," the king said to the officials and the generals.
Before the meeting was dismissed, an official asked the king whether he could guarantee that the fairies wouldn't lose their lives because of the war and whether the war itself wouldn't put an end to fairies.
The king chuckled and laughed at the question and didn't pay a single attention to it or give it thorough thought.
The meeting was dismissed and the generals and officials went to their homes. Living the king alone in his palace.
The king sat with his chin resting on his left hand and thought that he was surely going to hear of his prosperity after ruining the plans of humans.
The humans didn't have any plans at all and didn't know of the prophecy. The king didn't consider that before thinking of waging war.
Humans had enough problems and not enough resources to think of war. The fairy king didn't consider that.
The next day, the king sat at the round table where he had previously had conversations with the generals and officials speaking with the official who usually led the fairy soldiers into war.
"You are seated here today because?" the king asked.
"I have come to ask you, your majesty, when I should get the soldiers ready for war," the official said.
"It's not war, it is just to investigate what mysteries are in the human world," the king replied.
"If you are sending the fairies from the kingdom of the sky, I suggest you equip them with materials suitable for war," the official suggested.
"I know that is why I asked you to prepare the soldiers. Of course, I do not want war, but I do not want the soldiers to be caught off guard," the king said sternly.
"Then what time would you send them down so I could prepare them and give them the time to tell their families that they had to go down to the human world?" the official questioned.
"Very well put, it won't be a war, it would be something like an invasion and taking some humans captive"the king replied
"You are thinking of holding some humans here with us, but the humans are nothing compared to us at all, "the official said.
"It is just to see how they would be able to reach us, just to ask, they can bring back only one, it's the same." the king said, frustration written all over his face.
He didn't think it would be so difficult to relay his intentions to his officials, but he had to be patient because he couldn't act alone.
The official got up and told the king he was going to meet with the soldiers and when they were prepared, he would come back to meet with him. The king then told the officials to get the soldiers ready before sunrise and prepare them to go to the human world at once.

In middle-earth, in a little town, the town where Elaine lived, the people were busy preparing themselves for an event which was hosted by the Appleridges family. The Appleridge family were celebrating the birthday of their youngest child, Anna.
The Appleridge family decided to send out invitations to the people of the town to celebrate their child marking another year. Elaine had to work late so she could prepare all the drinks and snacks that were going to be given out the next day.
The next day, as guests were arriving at the house of the Appleridges, a terrible wind blew over the tents which they had arranged for guests.
Perhaps it was a warning that something was about to happen.
They picked up the tent and managed to arrange it back to the way it was. For humans, it was just a regular wind and they didn't think too much about what the cause was. But there was more explanation for what had happened and the wind that had blown.
The fairies reached human land and were preparing to strike. A soldier had grown too impatient and had let out a wave from his hand which reached the tents and blew them over.
The humans were unaware of the arrival of the fairies and they were also unaware of their doom.
