CHAPTER 3: MEETING THE DRAGON

"Rooooooaaaaaarrrrrr"The dragon let out a loud and mighty roar that shook the surroundings.
"Arrrrrrrgh"Prince Esmerald let out a loud scream and passed out.
The dragon looked at the unconscious prince and shook his head.
Few minutes later,the prince woke up."What an annoying dream,why did I dream of the dragon"He said as he sat.
Suddenly,he heard a gentle rasping breathing behind him.He slowly tilted his head and met the dragon's gaze.
"Argh"He screamed.
"Stop screaming "The dragon commanded "Am I that ugly that you had to scream?"
"It can talk"He said as he laughed"I might still be dreaming,how could a dragon talk,must be a silly dream"He said.
The dragon sneered."Why are you here ?Who are you ?and how did you get through the barrier?He asked as smoke came outta his nostrils.
"It is not a dream"
"This is my chance to kill the dragon,I can't believe the dragon is right in front of me,if I kill the dragon,I can bring peace to our kingdom"He thought as he took his sword out from the scabbard.
"I ,the prince of Arcadia will do the honour to slay the dragon that has been killing our ancestors"He said.
The crown prince believes in his skills because he is better than all the warriors in the kingdom,even the king.
He pointed the sword at the dragon and the dragon chuckled as he lay down.
"Let me teach you a lesson"He said as fire came outta his nostrils and destroyed the rest of the land.
Fear gripped him but he composed himself and inched forward with his sword still pointing at the dragon.
"You are one brave prince"The dragon commented.
He opened his mouth and a fireball came out and destroyed the trees.
Esmerald gulped and he withdrawal his sword.
"Look,if you let me go,I promise not to tell anyone about you"
"Why are you here?"The dragon asked but got no reply from the prince.
The dragon smirked."Answer my question "He shouted and fire came outta his mouth.
"I dunno,I was going on my own, enjoying the beautiful forest when I saw this ruined part of the forest,so I came here to check"He replied truthfully.
"A mere human broke through a barrier that a powerful mage was unable to get through,and with ease,Who are you?"
"I am Prince Esmerald,the crown prince of Arcadia "He introduced himself.
"You are the crown prince of that village?"
"Yes and don't refer my kingdom as 'that village ' "
"I like you,your braver than those fools"
The dragon stood on his four legs and colours began to swirl around him,it covered him from head to toe.
After a few seconds ,the colours faded and a young handsome man stood in his place.
His dark, wavy hair framed his face, accentuating his striking features.His piercing green eyes seemed to see right through to the soul.His full, sensual lips curled into a perpetual smile.His smooth, bronzed skin glowed with a healthy, sun-kissed radiance.His deep, resonant voice sent shivers down the spine.
Prince Esmerald's mouth hung in shock.
"You----,Wha---But--You---How----Huh?"He stuttered.
The young man smirked.
"Let me explain something to you,I placed a magical barrier outside, no one can see the ruined part of the forest,I made it so that people won't know who I am and where I live.The most powerful mage in the whole wide world tried to find me ,he traced me here but he couldn't enter,Now,all i wanna know is the reason you can see and enter this place"
"I don't know what you are talking about,as I said earlier,I was walking around enjoying the view when I saw this ruined part and came here to see what's inside"
"Why are you here,You are the prince of Arcadia, shouldn't you be in your kingdom?"
"I love exploring so I came to explore "
"Oh,I wanna ask a question "
"Go ahead"
"Why did you scream when your saw me,am I that ugly"He asked as a mirror materialized in his hand,his eyes scanning his appearance.
"You are a dragon,a very scary one,you look like monsters in children's nightmare"he replied.
The young man pouted."Let's go"He ordered as he took a step forward.
"Um...Mr dragon---"
"The name is draco"He corrected him.
"Mr draco,where exactly are we going?"
"What a silly question" he replied."To your kingdom "
"My what---,your kidding right?'
"I was going there anyway,just know this if you disclose my identity,I'll make sure to wipe out your entire kingdom,not even a leaf would be left"He threatened.
Prince Esmerald gulped.
"I will be staying at your place"He announced."I have nowhere to stay and the palace is a perfect place"
Esmerald was dumbfounded.He was scared for his people.
"Why,I rather die than let an enemy into my kingdom "
"Even if you die,I know my way around,I can go to your Kingdom anytime"He replied.
"If I disagree,he might kill me and go to the palace,if I agree,it's like I am committing treason.If I let him follow me,I can keep an eye on him"He thought.
when he looked at draco,he found him smirking.
"Fine,but there are some rules and you will have to abide by them."He said as he glared at the dragon.
"I go by my own rules"He said and Esmerald sighed.
"Let's go"The prince said and led the way.
-----------------The camp.
Derick went to the prince's tent to wake him up but found the tent empty.He became alarmed.
He looked around with the guards.
"You,you,you,go look at that direction"He said as he pointed to three guards.
"Yessir"The chorused and left.
He left with the other guards to search the other direction,after searching for an hour,they sat and rested.
"This is all my fault,How am I going to tell the king that prince Esmerald has been kidn*pped,I don't care if I die but I just can't hear the thoughts of him being harmed"
"Oh really?"
Derick startled as he heard the familiar voice and tilted his head in the direction of the voice.
"Your highness"He jumped in joy and bowed.
When he raised his head,his eyes met with a green one,a very beautiful captivating green eyes,with plumb lips and perfect jawline and a very very handsome face.
The guards were also captivated by his beauty.
"Am I that handsome that even men drool over me?"Draco thought as he smiled.
"I got lost,you know the forest is big so I got lost"He said and his guards paid attention to him
"Yes,your highness "He smiled.
"I didn't know you care so much about me,you were crying for me"
"I am just glad you are alright "
Draco cleared his throat."Hi"He smiled.
"I met him not a while ago,he got lost too and it turns out he is heading to our kingdom "Esmerald explained.
"I took a wrong turn"
"May I ask what your are doing in this forest?"
"I think this one is going to give me a headache "He thought as he smiled. "I am yamdong,My village got attacked recently,I escaped and wanted to live a new life in Arcadia and this forest is thw only way to Arcadia from yamdong,bit i took a wrong turn and got lost."
"Okay,where is your horse?"Derick asked.
Draco's eyes twitched"I don't have a horse,I am teaveling by feet"He answered.
"Okay,let's go,the royal family must be so worried about his majesty."
They went back to the camp and met the guards who went to the other direction there drinking water.
"Your Majesty"They bowed as they saw him and when their eyes met with draco's they were also captivated by his beauty.
Two guards mounted a horse so that draco can ride comfortably cos they thought he is the prince's friend because he kept smiling at the prince and the prince smiled back.
"You do know he w to mount a horse,right?"Derick asked.
"Yes yea ,don't worry"
They mounted the horse except for draco who was still hesitating.
"I thought you said,you can mount it"Derick says d in a mocking tone.
Esmerald could see anger in draco's eyes and ordered Derick to be quiet because the dragon can lose control and burn them all.
Draco calmed down and mounted the horse.
"Hold on to the reigns so that you don't fall off"Esmerald warned as the horse started running.
"Why do I need to -----"The horse started running and draco almost fall off it's back."Woah"He said as he quickly held the reigns.
"You are going to regret it"Draco muttered as he smirked.
