With a gun to my head, I stayed up all night stitching his wound. If he wasn't so stubborn, he wouldn't have to be here. Now my life was at risk. If he didn't wake up. I would join him and sleep forever. "When is he going to wake up?" With a gun to my head, my heart still skipped a beat when I saw him lying down unconscious. I should have been afraid, but I wasn't. Maybe because I wanted him to wake up as well. I was hopeful. Something in me wanted him to be alive even though I thought he was a monster. "When is he going to wake up?" The old man shouted at me. Triggered, but I didn't react. "Any moment from now" I snorted, but I didn't care. I knew he was going to wake up. Just then he coughs and opens his eyes. The old man pointing a gun at me runs to his side and kisses his ring. The scene is odd, but just like him, I'm relieved that he's awake. "Ghost, I almost thought I lost you." The old man says He sits up in his bed and looks around the room. I avoid eye contact with him for the sake of not wanting to feel anything. "The men told me it was Don that ordered the killing; I think we should attack." "Luciano, if I do that, the cartel will be in chaos." "Ghost, an attack was made on your life. That is treason." "If a war breaks out, the cartel will suffer." "Ghost" "Luciano, you must obey me." The old man holds his words. "What are we going to do with her?" He looks at me without uttering a word again. I begin to think maybe he's scared of me. Then he turns to the old man. "She saw me murder someone; we'll have to keep her here." "Or we could kill her." The old man says. He looks at him with disgust, and some sort of fear cripples me. "No, we'll keep her alive." He sounds assertive when he says it. The old man doesn't seem to be happy about it; the look on his face is clearly evident. Take her to the penthouse. "Yes, Ghost." As we walk out of the room, I ask the old man a question. "So your name is Luciano?" He stares back at me with a wicked grin "I will kill you without a thought." He walked right past me. I was afraid because I knew he meant it. He was old but dangerous. With the scar on his face and his wicked smile, you could tell he was dangerous. His sleek, laid back silver grey hair matched his dark eyes. He was truly a treacherous consigliere. ****** Making it to the penthouse, it was easy to see everything was well furnished and luxurious. The bodyguards escorted me and locked the door. I quickly ran to the door and banged on it "Open it, open it!" But nobody answered, but after futile attempts, I gave up. I went to the balcony and sat there. Admiring the view, I was in awe at how beautiful everything looked. I could literally see the whole city from this view. Just then a voice startled me. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" I turn to see the man I operated on or, as they call him. "Ghost" He smirks when I call him Ghost. "What's making you laugh, isn't that your name?" He uses his hand to cover his face and smiles. "I like how you're getting used to calling me my personal name." " I'm not used to anything, I just want to go back to my job and my life. If that's too much to ask. He laughs and sits down and crosses his legs, then he signals his bodyguard to give me a file. "What job? What life? A life of debt?" I open the file and then I see all the paperwork on debts I owe. I close it and stand up, infuriated "How dare you, scrap that. Who do you think you are? To pride into my personal life like that." He stands up and hovers over me. He is so much taller and his hands are so big. I feel a tingle within me that somehow melts my anger. "You will not talk to me like that." He looks into my eyes and says it. My heart starts spiralling. I'm so tempted to jump on him and kiss his lips that I keep drawing me into his face, but I hold myself. "I will talk to you the way I want, especially when you show no respect and treat me like a prisoner. I am not." He grabs my face and kisses me. All the thoughts in my head melt. I want to respond back, but I have to draw myself away. I pulled away from his grasp and turned to the opposite side. " Marry me or die? The choice is yours. He drops a ring on the table and leaves. Immediately he shuts the door. I'm torn whether to love him or hate him. I can't help what I feel, but at the same time, I can't love who he is. ****** Alessio's POV I wanted to tear the dress off and make love to her. My hands in her dark brown hair but I had to restrain myself. Her hazel eyes trapped me the moment I woke up and saw them for the first time. When I saw her again, I knew she was going to be mine, nobody else's but mine. "Luciano" "Yes" "I want to know everything about her." "But why?" I turn and look at him. I couldn't explain it because I knew he wouldn't understand. I was a man of few words and so was Luciano. He understood me and I understood him. So I knew for sure that he wouldn't understand. "It's blood for blood." "Blood for blood" That was our code of conduct, so he would not understand that Emilia had just captured my soul, and she belonged to me. "Dr. Emilia Conti is mine and no one else's." Luciano bowed his head because he understood what that meant.
