"You made this for me?"
"No, it's for the dog," Cynthia retorted defiantly, reaching out to snatch the bag back.
Andrew lifted the bag high above his head. With his tall stature and long arm, Cynthia jumped for a while but couldn't come close to reaching it at all.
Suddenly, Andrew wrapped his arm around her waist. Cynthia buried her face in his chest. As she listened to his pounding heartbeat, her whole body stiffened. The man was very strong, and she couldn't break free, so she could only let Andrew hold her.
Andrew bent slightly, his chin resting on her shoulder. His warm breath tickled her ear.
"Cynthia, believe it or not, there's truly nothing between Rebecca and me."
His voice was soft, but each syllable reached her ears distinctly.
