The day after the business summit, Cynthia slept till noon, only to be jolted awake by a phone call.
The moment she picked up, a barrage of sharp words hit her.
"Cynthia! What the hell have you done? Rebecca is your sister! How could you humiliate her like that? You schemed against your dad, and now you're going after your sister! You... you're acting like a complete monster!"
Yolanda's insults weren't particularly creative, just the same few phrases repeated over and over.
"Mom," Cynthia drawled lazily, "are you done?"
"No!" Yolanda ramped up her tirade. "Cynthia, you ungrateful girl! Andrew was supposed to be your sister's boyfriend. We had no choice but to have you marry him instead! Now she's back, but you refused to step aside, and you even went out of your way to humiliate her!
