Dove’s P.O.V

Senses heighten. Forks scrap across plates. Conversations overlapping. Hearts beat. Next course. Pleaser sounds heard as the rich stuff down their throats with the most delectable cuisine. Sips of aromatic wines waffled across the room as new bottles were being opened. Shuffling of feet as The Help rushes to tend to the greedy. Heightened caution so as to not upset the gluttons. The smell of fear was thick in the air.

I kept a close eye on my surroundings as Leon kept mumbling about his insight of how he was going to run his pack, he sounded more like a child trying to take over the playground then trying to think of how his pack was going to profit and thrive as one. I peeked at Ryan. He looked amused at this child of an Alpha. He lifted up his scarred eyebrow at me. I gave a small smile back to him, well whipping my mouth on the red fabric.

" This is ridiculous, Dove."

" We're almost done eating. We can endure a little while longer."

" Ugh."

I continued to smile at the man across from me two seats down the table. Leon thought it was a good idea that The Alpha and Betas sat together to discuss pack-business-things.

" Have you seen Leon's dad at all this evening Ryan?"

" Nope. No, sign of the creepy bastard. You?"

" Nothing."

Ryan was right about him indeed. And the worrying part is, I can't see him in my visions. I need to tell Talon tonight when I check in with him.

" So I was wondering after this if you'd join me in my office and maybe get to know each other a bit more?" Leon suggested reaching out to touch my hand, but I timed it just right so I could grab my glass of water before he could make contact.

“ That would be lovely, Ryan and I would love that.” I watched as his jaw tensed at my words well his hands flexed with inpatients.

“ No, I was hoping it would just be us and you know with some wine as well.” From the end of his words a vision of what was to come passed before my eyes.

I watched as Ryan sat up straight without being too obvious

“ What do you see Dove?”

He always knew when I was being shown the future. Even as kids. He’d make sure I was never alone.

“ A shift has occurred Ryan. We need to be more careful from here on out.”

I watched from the corner of my eye as he tapped his chin twic to confirm he understood.

“ That’s very sweet, but I think I’ll take a rain check for tonight. Does tomorrow night work better? Since I’m guessing Ryan and I will be stuck here for a few more days so the snow can clear from the roads.” I tell Leon.

I watched as his hands stopped shaking from rage as he thought it over for a minute. I watched as he rubbed his hand up and down his clean shaven cheek. I watched as his eyes flickered from up right, up left, center then back up. He was formulating a plan and I knew every part of it. I even know about the double sided mirror now. I should have known sooner. I’m such an i***t. “ Sure, that works with me.” I gave a tight lip smile and a small nod. His plan was to keep watching me from afar like a creep.

I wrapped Ryan’s coat around me more tightly as I felt Leon’s gaze fall to my chest a bit more often. I took another sip as I looked to my left and there she was just as I saw in my vision. Her dark brown hair pulled up into a tight bun at the back of her head. Her bruised and battered hands cleared up the plates before her.

I placed my cup back down on the mahogany table.

“ Destiny is within my sight.” I watched as Ryan turned ever so slightly to get a glimpse.

" Destiny is within sight." He said back.

I looked up to Leon." I'm so sorry I must be heading back to my room now." I said well, standing up and pushing my chair in. I watched as Leon looked up to me." Why are you leaving so soon? Dessert hasn't even come out yet?" I gave him a small smile." It may seem crazy, but I do have homework I need to complete before my next classes start." His eyes got big. Everyone that was seated at our end of the table stopped what they were doing and stared at me with the same look." How old are you?" I gave a small chuckle." You know you shouldn't ask a woman her age?" I could see the wheels working in his head.

" I'm nineteen" I said." I take online classes at the local Community College back home." I watched as he sat his silverware down and leaned his cheek in his hand. And with his Grinch-like smile he said." Well, aren't you a perfect student? I know what kind of person you are now. Someone who only follows orders. Like a good little soldier right." Didn't sound like a question." You could say that." I told him.

I can see in his eyes that the way he said that was to push my buttons in some form." And I can see you're still inexperienced to be an Alpha and it's like watching a child bragging to everyone about their new shiny toy until someone else comes around to show off a newer better shinier toy. That’s when you throw a fit that actually rivals that of a child's right? " Everyone then hushed." If you'll excuse me I need to go be a good little soldier now." As I said that Ryan was right behind me to escort me to my room. I watched as his face flamed red at my words.

As I turned to Ryan, he was stifling a laugh. I rolled my eyes as he put his hand on my back to make sure I was a few steps ahead of him. He let it out after we were out of earshot of the dinning hall." I think that's the first time the dumb bastard has heard that before!" He patted and rubbed my back. Like he was proud of me." Good s**t Dove." He said after he sobered up." I can't stand people like that." I said as I crossed my arms." I'm not a good soldier that follows orders. Am I?" Ryan gave me a look." What's with that look?" I said well, stopping to pin him with my glare. " Hey, he wasn't wrong about you either. You always do what you're told, Dove. You always have since you were a child ever since…that day." I pursed my lips well looking away and walking again. Since I was a child. Since that day. No, I was just listening and giving thanks to my Uncle, Auntie, Grandmother, and everyone in the pack. I do this to keep them safe, so nothing happens to them again. That no other child goes through what other kids, Ryan and even I went through. I’ll keep my pack safe.

“ Hey it’s okay to help others. It’s okay to say no. You need a break every once in a while.” He said well he caught up to me. He placed a hand on my shoulder to stop me.” You always run yourself to the ground. It’s okay to have fun. You can’t change the past.” He said well he lifted my chin up in his direction. His green emerald orbs beamed down to mine with worry.” When was the last time you ate an actual homemade meal?” I lifted my brow up to him.” Tonight with the rest of those pigs.” He turned me to him so we were face to face.” You picked at your food. You only ate like two bites tonight.” He said well he slightly shook me.” When was the last time you slept a full eight hours?” I put my hands on his shoulder.” I’m a Beta, Ryan. I don’t sleep well anyways.” I said well, shake him back.” Anyways this is not the time to talk about me. We need to keep to the schedule so c’mon let’s go.” I said well, patting his arm and walking to my room.” The future is never set. We need to come up with a new plan.” I watched as he let out a deep breath that made his shoulder rise and fall a bit dramatically.” Fine, but when we get back to Three Lakes you’re coming on an adventure with me.” I laughed, turning my back to him.” We live in the mountains of Colorado every day is an adventure.” I said well, making my way up the stairs to HQ (My Room)” Then go on a date with me?” I stopped suddenly and slowly spun to stare down at him.” What?” I asked softly.” You heard. Go on a date with me…as friends if you like.” I turned back around so once again he would see how flush my face was.” Th-that sounds like a plan.” I told him well I wrapped my arms around myself.” C’mon before Talen’s head explodes.” I said. Ryan chuckled.” After you Beta.” He said well catching up to me. The whole time on our way up I was holding my breath. I’ve never been on one before, a date. I don’t know the first thing about that topic. Oh Moon Goddess what do I do now?

Leon’s P.O.V

That little b***h. My hands balled up as I slammed them on my desk cracking the expensive wood.” s**t look what she made me do!” I gritted my teeth.

“ Show her who’s Alpha!”

I rolled my eyes as the beast had to open his mouth.

“ Again Jona with that thinking. It just won’t work. We need to think a bit harder than that.” I said well watching my tone with him so he doesn’t go ape s**t on me again. My head was still in splinters from earlier today.

“ Then we can fight her.”

I put my palms over my eyes and shook my head back and forth well letting out a moan of disappointment.” You are of no help, but keep thinking there bud.” He gave a grunt and went back to the depths of my head to THINK of what to do.

I slumped in my chair and flipped on my computer to check the cameras. Well I was flipping through each channel I came across the little w***e and that prick walking back to their respective rooms. I watched as she unlocked her door. You can tell they were talking. About what I haven’t had a clue. Then she turned as that prick leaned in on his forearms closer to her so they were mere inches to each other which spooked her and she went through the frame, well they both fell through well the asshole tried to catch her. Okay he did catch her or he cushioned her fall. Okay he caught her in his arms and they’re both sprawled out on the ground with her on top of him, with her breasts flushed on his chest and his hand on her ass and the other wrapped around her waist. And the worst part they stayed like that for a few minuets looking in to each others eyes. I punched the screen and got up to get a drink.” This is bullshit! Shiny new toy my ass.” I said well slamming the doors to my office.
