She held Sasha closer, and the girl, very obedient, followed my order and rested her cheek on the fur edge of the sheriff’s wife’s coat. Kaylee’s gloved hand held the baby’s little head with an almost affectionate gesture, although Sasha did not take her huge blue eyes off me. She seemed about to cry, but she was a brave little princess and she endured it.
