LEANNA’S POV “Are you happy now?” Robin asked, as the door to my room shut behind us with a loud bang. I stood with my back to her. Lips pursed in dissatisfaction. “I hadn’t thought it through,” I whispered, my cheeks burning in shame as I remembered th looks I got after defending myself. “No you didn’t!” she snapped. I winced as I let her words sink in. “You don’t think things through Leanna. And it’s going to get you in trouble at some point.” She let out grimly. I whipped my gaze to turn towards her. My heart ached as I witnessed her clenched fists. “I’m sorry Rob. I was just so angry. He had no right to say all that stuff about me and then pretend like he didn’t know,” I spat, stamping my feet. I missed the cloud that flashed across Robin’s face at my statement, as I walked towards my bed. Letting th softness of my purple sheets caress my body. “I don’t know what you mean by that, but you have to stop. Especially if you want the men to follow you in the future,” she said, her towering figure casting a long shadow against my vertical figure. With eyes closed, I went on to say, “They don’t have a choice. My father has no other heir. They’ll come around sooner or later,” I said in an offhanded tone. That had never been a fear of mine. I knew that no matter how much my father might despise me, I was his only option. And it was already too late for him to birth a competitor. “How are you so sure about that?” Robin whispered. I looked up to face her, but I was unable to make out her expression by the dark shadow that ran across her face. “Are you not?” I added with a light chuckle as I shook my head. Already bored of the conversation. Seeing how Robin didn’t say anything else, I took it upon myself to change the topic. She always got weirdly heated when my succession was challenged. “Whatever. Do you wanna go take a look at the city?” I asked, unwilling to spend another minute at our offshore headquarters. “Really?” Robin asked in a slightly chirper tone. A sly smirk stretched across my lips. She was always eager to leave the island. “You never leave the island,” she said in a slightly doubtful tone. I shrugged as I went on to respond, “What can I say, I’d rather stare at unfamiliar people than look at the faces of those who despise me.” My words came out with more heat than I had intended. But it truly represented how I felt in that moment. “I understand Leah, I’ll take care of it,” she said with a smile as she gave my shoulder a hard squeeze. “We’re going to have so much fun!” she said with a wide smile. Caught up in her excitement, a similar smile stretched across my lips as a hint of eagerness bubbled up within me. “I’ll go get us some blind dates so we won’t be too bored on the mainland,” she said with a smile. “Why can’t we just spend it alone? Won’t it be like those girls night outs we watch in movies?” I asked with a raised brow. “It’ll be fun! Just trust me,” she giggled slightly, giving me no chance to question her intent before she rushed out of the room. I stared at he receding back with a slight gape a before shaking my head as she eventually fell out of my range of vision. “No time like the present then,” I muttered softly as I turned to my wardrobe. I was slightly thankful for my lack of options, with my wardrobe being dominated by black pants, and leather jackets. I threw on a pair of leather pants, grabbing a purple crop top I had no idea existed, before swinging my favorite leather jacket around my shoulders. I gravitated towards the mirror, touching up on my lip combo briefly, before adding a bit of glitter around my eyelids, highlighting my bright blue pupils. My black hair cascaded down my back in an effortless grace. I saw no need to comb it further. And just like clockwork, Robin barged into my room. Her outfit a bit similar to mine, except she was clad in dark blue bum shorts. Exposing her long legs which could send any man into a stupor. She went for a verdant green crop top instead. Her bright green eyes popping in contrast. “Ooh! You look hotter than usual,” her bright eyes gleamed as she stepped up towards me. Circling my figure as though she was an art inspector, and I was the art. “Looks who’s talking,” I teased, whistling as I gave her a double check. She let out a low chuckle, hooking her arms in mine as she went on to say, “Let’s agree we both look good. Those guys aren’t going to know what hit them.” “Let’s go then,” I said with a smile as we left the room, arm in arm, making our way out of the building. “How are we leaving the island?” I asked as we stepped out of the warmth of the building, and into the deep cold. I pulled my jacket closer as I searched her gaze for a reply. “Follow me,” she said with a mischievous smile as she pulled me to the back. We made our way past dark bushes, my anxiety about to get the best of me, before I watched Robin disappear from my line of sight. My breath got hitched in my throat as I stepped into a clearing. “No way!” I breathed. “Tada! Welcome to our horse carriage,” she said with a smile as she pulled me towards the helicopter I never knew existed. “When did this get here?” I asked, still breathless as I strapped myself in. I was used to moving in boats, or actual airplanes, but not private helicopters. “The boss just had it brought in. And we’re borrowing it,” she said offhandedly as she strapped herself in the drivers seat. “When did you learn to maneuver a helicopter?” I asked, the fear I felt in that moment suppressing the discomfort I felt at the fact that she had knowledge of my father I wasn’t privy to. “That’s not important. Just sit back and enjoy the ride,” she said as she started the engine before we were sent soaring into the air. I gripped my seat for dear life as I watched us move towards the city, littered with sprawling lights. Getting closer with each passing second.
