RAVENNA The wind had gone still and yet everything inside me was trembling. My legs burned from running, but I didn’t stop, not even when Kael slowed beside me or when Zane pointed out to a broken wagon just ahead, tucked beneath the bend of the trees. We had Riven and that was all that mattered. Every breath I took, was for her now. When we reached the wagon, Kael’s men moved swiftly, scanning the area and keeping watch. I climbed in first and laid Riven gently down, her small body limp against my lap. Kael followed quietly, his face unreadable, but his eyes… they kept darting to her like he couldn’t believe she was real. Zane remained out front, giving us space. The others stood guard. Inside the wagon, the air was tense and heavy, but for a moment, it felt like we had escaped time
