RAVENNA The ward door swung open with a creak, and Mira rushed in, her eyes darting toward me before looking at the boy resting in the room. I could see the worry lining in her face, an anxiety I knew wasn’t just about the child, but about me. About what this incident might mean for me and Riven. “Cera,” she whispered, “are you alright?” “Yeah, yeah. Just… just a little shaken.” Mira glanced toward the boy again, his eyelids shaking and his chest rising in shallow but steady rhythms. Then back to me, “They said you helped him, said he looked like he was gone when they brought him in.” I didn’t reply. I kept my face neutral, nodding faintly like I’d done nothing out of the ordinary, just your average nurse performing first aid. But I saw Mira’s eyes, they had a bit of confusion in them
