We got a video call from the kids about half an hour ago. So we parked the car at the side of the road so we could answer them. By then, the inside of the car was smelling very strongly of Cyra, her fiery scent surrounding all of us.
She’s never smelled this strongly before. It’s partially because of her heat and partially because Zack and Liam have been teasing her for much of the drive, and we’re all locked inside the small space of the car.
The kids had been very excited, their voices loud and bright as they talked about how they were looking forward to having a sleepover with all of their friends.
I felt sorry for Dec, Maeve, Lowell and Marrok. It won’t be easy to get them to bed any time soon...
But talking to the kids did lift our moods. They had been unhappy when we lef
