HENRY'S POV,
As I walked back to the parlor, I noticed that they were still having their father and daughter's lecture. I wonder what she was saying that made him keep giggling?
This was one of the reasons I wanted to marry her, but to hell with that fantasy now! I was done with her and probably the whole concert of marriage. Why bother having a girlfriend when it's obvious that I will never love her, since my heart was already stolen?
"I am so glad that you two love birds have put your differences aside and decided to make this work. Toast to a happy ending for you two," my Dad said, rising his glass.
The next thing I knew, she made that "puppy's look," and with the help of the actress she was, she broke into tears.
"What's wrong, baby? Why the tears?
He asked her,"
"Uncle Jake, I'm just overwhelmed by the thought that this could be my last day as your daughter-in-law. Henry says that he can't condone me anymore because I was trying to compete with Mrs Smith, which I am not. I only questioned the fact that he gave his job away without even consulting me."
"Come here, sweetie, and stop crying." You and Henry love each other, and that's all that matters, I talked to Harriet, and she completely understands, and she's willing to resign if that's what it takes to keep this relationship going. Over the years, we sought to find the perfect girl for Henry, a girl who could love and respect him, and you're our heaven's sent. So, we won't let anything jeopardize that."
Dad, you can't make her quit. Just because "that's what Princess Kayla wants, what if tomorrow she demands half of this property?
"Uh! "You think that I don't deserve such?" How about how I choose to stand by you even in this condition of yours? Go out there, search, and see how many ladies will be willing to stay by you? I deserve to get whatever I request because I am the one making the sacrifice here."
"Hold on, you two." What conditions are you talking about, Kayla?
Uncle Jake, I'm sorry, but it is not in my place to tell you, but if you insist, "Henry has an erectile dysfunction."
"Henry has what?"
Henry, "You have such condition, and you decided to keep to yourself? Don't you know the implications of being impotent?"
Dad, don't listen to her. My manhood is very active. I just made that up to test her loyalty, which, by the way, she doesn't have at all. "As a result, I am putting an end to this relationship. We are not compatible."
"First of all, Henry, you and I are going for a scan or a test, or whatever they call it right after here, just to o be safe."
"Second of all," you can't break up with her at your mother's will or some dumb loyalty prank. We lived in the generation of vipers, so you two should count yourselves lucky to have found each other. None of you can walk out of this relationship without a tangible reason. And by tangible, I mean, " unless the person is completely in love with someone else, which is a condition that is beyond our control, I won't want you to end up like us.
Other than that, you will remain a couple. If she wants money, you will give it to her, she your wife, and by doing that, she will play her role of submission genuinely.
"Have I made myself clear?"
"Yes, Uncle Jake, you have, and as for me, even if his results come back positive, I won't mind staying with him, as long as Mrs Smith knows her boundaries."
"I can guarantee that you don't have to worry about her, neither should you be alarmed about his alleged condition because I am going to get to the bottom of it."
"Let's cut the chase, Dad," I can't spend the rest of my life with this disrespectful, manipulative, and controlling freak, "no offense, Kayla, but you are no wife material."
"Bah!" No offense, Mr Impotence, I too can not waste my precious days with an Impotence Mama's Boy!
"Quite you two!" Did you not hear the requirements for a break up?
And you Henry, you stand here blabbering about morals: when you had the guts to called you fiancee a "w***e"?
At this moment I was lacking of words, but just then my eyes met Kayla's, I could tell that she was already jubilating, so it was time to go dirty.
Dad, she asked for it, she slapped me in the presence of the servants and.....
"She did what?" "Kayle you slapped my son??"
Instead of her using her same trick from earlier, she decided to justify her actions, "Uncle Jake, in my defense he called me a w***e. What gentleman does that?"
"Young lady, you still have the guts to ask me such a stupid question? Did you or did you not slap Henry?"
You know what? It's obvious you're everything he just named, so don't ’t bother answering. Just leave here this instant.
"But.. he... started it,
"Kayla, I don't want to hear it. Just go home!" He yelled at her. She wasn't expecting this comeback at all because she was trembling.
From my Dad's tune, I could tell that he was furious at her, and to add fuel to the fire, I began over exaggerating:
"Dad, it was not just a single slap. You should have seen the humiliation. She torn up my shirt, kept insulting me, and even threw me out in the dark. My only saving grace was the fact that we weren't on land, and it was too dark for people to recognize me. I know that this is not an excuse for insulting her, but I was being ridiculed, and I couldn't bring myself to hit her.
She always wants things done on her terms, and whenever I try to oppose her, she becomes furious, insulting me at will. I had kept it from you because I was hoping she could change her, but her attitude has become unbearable, and as disappointing as it might sound, my feelings for her have also died out.
Anyway, I'm still willing to push through with the marriage if she's the one you want for a daughter-in-law. I won't mind making this sacrifice for you. I know how much you love Alex and want to please him.
Henry, the worst thing that could happen to a man is having a rebellious wife because wives are meant to be submissive by default. I may love her like my own daughter, but I can never condone that behavior either. It's like sending you to an early grave.
"FYI," you have to men up and stop being so "f*****g perfect." Kayla had the guts to do that because she knows that you're a selfless man, who by the way you weren't born to be. You're no one's menssiah!
Henry, you have money and fame with it you can get away with basically anything, so start acting like it, break the rules, or bend the rules, I don't care, all I want is a son who I can be proud of.
This was a shock to me, I had always thought that my father was super proud of how I turned out, but he didn't stop at this:
"Son, there's a whole lot of fun in being imperfect, lay aside ethics, values, and generousness, and just soar like the eagle you're. Do wild stuff, put your desires first, become more of a rigorous boss, then the Mr. Carefree you are"
"How in hell did this conversation go from a relationship talk to a conference on how to trime into becoming selfish?"
