HENRY'S POV.
I'm sorry, Mom, but we will have to enjoy
this moment alone because that was a text from her, she can't make it.
Hence, I suggest we just use the evening to celebrate you and your recent achievements.
"That's so sweet of you dear, but I'm sort of offended, I have had this job for months yet all this while you didn't think of throwing me a dinner, but now that your ''girlfriend'' cancelled at the last minute, you suddenly want to throw me a pity party dinner."
You're right mother, but I need you to know that we don't see you as some charity case, I'm positive Dad have something special planned for you already, have some faith in our love for you, please..?
"Henry, speak for yourself, will you? I know my husband too well he'd never make me feel special or appreciated.
Not that I'm complaining, but sometimes I wish that you guys would give me at least a little bit of the attention I gave you two," she said,
Mother, I said as I held her hands. From now onwards, I will make you feel loved and make sure you are treated like the queen you are. It's a promise.
I specifically arranged this for you, and there is no princess whatsoever. Well, I said the first part to her, but the second part didn't get on my lips and probably never will.
"Sweetheart, I was just pulling your legs. I do appreciate all of your efforts and sacrifices you’ve made for me already. I am proud of you. Always remember that."
"Beep...beep," Excuse me a moment, I need to check this message.
It's a text from your father. He's not coming home tonight.
"Like I care, do whatever you want," was her reply.
Upon hearing this, I seized the opportunity to make this night an unforgettable one. I texted John and requested a banquet organized immediately to celebrate her, and to make it look realistic he should have few employees present, also since she was so fond of nature I told him that it has to be hosted at a beach.
"Sir, it is impossible to set up an event at the beach within an hour, especially by this time of the night," he replied.
I then responded with just a six words sentence and an angry emoji that were enough to get him working.
"Don't you know that it is rude to have a lady at the table while you're on a chit-chat with another?" She smirked
Apologies, my dearest lady, though it's not what it appears to be. Nevertheless, I do apologize for my lack of manners.
Toast to you, the lady of the night!
It was only when John's message came in that I realized that we had just spent more than an hour chatting and talking about our business. If we succeed in hatching all of these plans, our company would become the number one in the country.
Following the location sent by John, we were soon at one of Rocksville's most beautiful beaches. As we stepped out of the car, my mother was surprised, while I was shocked!
They had various kinds of nighttime events, fireworks displays, bonfires, and live music, yet the most shocking part was seeing our employees lined up from a cue with placards. How the hell did over fifty employees gather here upon such short notice?
John, what the hell did you do to get this number of people here? I asked after some girls had taken my mother into that weird and ugly looking tent that stood in the middle.
"Well, I just edited your sentence changing the "Do it" to "Attend it," and just like how I got terrified after seeing it, so did everyone else."
How would you force employees to attend a party? That is against their rights? You will need to compensate them and I'm serious!
"You should have thought of that beforehand, I only carried out your orders," he muttered.
What did you just say?
"I.. said ... alright.. Sir!"
So what's that ugly tent for, and why did they take her in there?— Wow... bloody... hell!"
John didn't need to answer my question again because it was like complete magic, the tent popped open, and in the middle stood a woman that looked exactly like a model from one of those cosmetic ADS.
Under the stars and meteor showers, her dress was glamorous, her hair that was styled like a knob was now loosely flying and bouncing against her back as she walked up front. I still couldn't believe that was her until during the dance when I held her closer and her arms lay across my shoulder.
This was one of the moments I was wishing would last for forever, yet I was relieved it end in time, because I could feel the sensation, I wanted to hold her tight and to kiss her so passionately, until my body had converted to her how I felt about her but good thing the band ended their play before I could explore...
"Henry, your Dad did a very good job. This party was the best anyone had ever given me. He really got me, I was totally clueless cluess.
All of the staff knew, and none of you even bothered to give me a hint.
Earlier, I thought that dinner was great, no offense dear, I know that you also put a lot of effort into it.
But even you would agree that your father did a beautiful job, won't you?
Of course, this party was great, and whoever did that deserve an Oscar.
You see, that's what I'm talking about. This party tonight is indeed unforgettable. In fact, it has completely made me forget all of his shortcomings. Before I vowed to get back at him but I think I will just let bygones be bygones.
If only it was his idea, I muttered.
What did you say, Henry? she asked,
Huh? Oh, I was asking what was your favorite part of tonight banquet? Like, what did you really enjoy?
I was certain that just like me, the dance was her best part, but I was way ahead of myself.
"Well, I enjoyed everything starting from the fireworks, the live band, the soft night breeze, and of course the dance. I didn't really pay much attention to that dance because of all the excitement, but I stole a couple of glances, and I could tell that you were having a great time.
I feel like a complete i***t. So I was literally dancing by myself.
"You did not dance by yourself. We danced together. I was just a bit carried away it's not every day your father gets to do something this consequential for me.
I wanted to tell her that I was the one behind it all, but I could not bear seeing those eyes that were so full of hope to become lost.
On the contrary, I didn't care who got the praises. My only goal was to make her feel happy and fulfilled.
The next day, it was as though the percentage of attraction between us had been multiple. In order to share more lovely moments together, I created a social media handle using a different identity. Hoping that through it, fate will give us another chance.
