SAFIRE MIRAYA

1140 Words
JAMES We appeared in the dreaded “Safire Miraya” The coven floats just above Hell, like it doesn’t belong to any realm. The air here hums, old, bitter, powerful. “She’s here,” I said, my voice low. “I can smell her.” Mr. Owen stood beside me, his expression unreadable. “She is,” he replied. I clenched my jaw. FLASHBACK “Run,” I warned, my eyes burning as I stared at her. “Run, woman, before I do something crazy.” She didn’t move.Instead, she smiled. “I’m your mother, James,” she said calmly. “Trust me,can’t you see he’s trying to divide us?” My shoulders relaxed without permission. My guard dropped. She stepped closer, placing her hands on my shoulders. “You’re all I have left,” she whispered. Something twisted inside my chest. “H…Hell tells me otherwise, Mum,” I said slowly. “Or should I call you… Carrington?” Her eyes widened, fear written all over her face. “Run,” I growled, my voice turning husky. “Now.” She hesitated only once before opening a portal. The light swallowed her whole. The last thing I saw was her face, conflicted, desperate, before she disappeared. BACK TO PRESENT “We didn’t tell you,” Mr. Owen said quietly, pulling me back. “You were too young. But you’ll understand now. Sit.” We didn’t land,we sat in the air, suspended above Hell. “Your real mother,” he began, “was a witch from the Safire Miraya coven.” My chest tightened. “She died while giving birth to you.” I swallowed. “They tried to kill you the moment you were born. You were forbidden, half Hell, half witch, and your mother…she had an affair with several demons.Your existence broke every law.” My hands trembled. “But before they could strike you down,” he continued, “your powers awakened.” Images slammed into my head.Screams, metal raining like judgment. “You shattered Hell,” Mr. Owen said. I sucked in a sharp breath. “Your power sent infernal arrows through the realm. One pierced the most powerful king Hell had ever known. He died, almost everyone died.” “Only a few survived. Some witches hid, others fled.” “And Carrington?” I asked bitterly. “She took advantage of the chaos,” he replied. “She stole you. Claimed you were hers and ran to earth with the survivors.” My fists clenched. “My visions…” I muttered. “They confuse me sometimes. I didn’t mean any harm.” Mr. Owen nodded slowly. “Of course you didn’t.” I stepped forward. The gates of Hell opened wider.Chains clinked. My eyes darted to….a familiar figure…Arthur,or whatever his name was. I tilted my head unconsciously and walked past him. “Interesting,” I murmured. “Mum!!!” I stopped. “I can see you,” I said calmly, a smirk settling on my face.“Clearly.”She stood in the shadows. “Eating worms now?” I added softly. ARTHUR I woke up to darkness,my head banging. “What the hell…” My voice came out rough“Okay. Okay, this is not funny.” I tried to laugh it off.Humor had always been my way out of panic. It didn’t work. I couldn’t see a thing. Not even my hands, not even shadows. Just… nothing. Darkness so thick it felt deliberate, intentional. Like whoever put me here wanted me blind. I tested the chains again. They didn’t budge. “Zina?” I called out instinctively, then scoffed at myself. “Yeah, because this screams kinky surprise.” My heartbeat picked up. I searched my memory, club, laughter, bathroom lights flickering, that sudden unease crawling up my spine, then nothing.A sound cut through the silence. Familiar in a way that made my stomach twist. “Mum!” The word echoed, bouncing off unseen walls, vibrating through the dark. My breath caught. “What?” I turned sharply, though I had no idea where to look. “Who’s there?” Silence answered me.I strained my ears, every muscle tense, every instinct screaming that I wasn’t alone, and that was the worst part. “I know I heard that,” I muttered. “I’m not drunk. I’m not hallucinating…I…” “Eating worms” There it was again, closer this time. My pulse slammed against my ribs. “Okay,” I breathed, forcing calm. “That’s enough. Whoever’s messing with me, congrats. You’ve officially crossed into serial-killer territory.” I twisted against the chains again, harder now. Pain shot through my shoulders, but adrenaline drowned it out. “Show yourself!” I snapped. “This isn’t funny.” A soft sound followed. Almost like… laughter? “You’ve got to be kidding me,” I whispered. My mind raced. I swallowed hard. “Look,” I said carefully, every charming instinct I had clinging to survival. “We can talk this out. I don’t know what kind of ritual, cult, underground fantasy hellscape this is, but I promise you ....” A shape moved. The darkness peeled back just enough for eyes to appear.Glowing. My breath left me in a sharp exhale. “Well,” I said weakly, heart hammering, “this is new.” The figure tilted its head, studying me like a curiosity. Like I was the one out of place. And then, in a voice smooth as sin and dangerous as fire, he spoke…. “Relax, Arthur,” he said. “If I wanted you dead, you’d already be screaming.” My blood ran cold. “Who are you, and what do you want from me” “Me?nah I don't need you”he said turning away “Wait please”I said almost like a scream NOTHING “Great, what do I do now” I then felt a lip on my ear,a woman's voice this time. "I'll come for you another time,I have bigger issues at hand" she placed her hands on my head,I screamed loud, the pain intense. I landed in a pool, almost choking, I raised my head up, trying to breathe.I felt completely weak,I couldn't even move any part of my body. "Where the hell have you been ,you had everyone mad worried.I have been looking for you everywhere " Stiles voice came from across I closed my eyes letting the water take me.I could feel movements in the water, like stiles was trying to come save me. He pulled me up and out of the water.I wondered how a lazy bum like him could pull me up.I coughed, stood up instinctively,I think that made stiles shift back. “Your eyes are storm grey and glowing”he said voice shaky “What the hell are you talking…” I fell, everywhere blurry "This is crazy, this is crazy " let's get you to the hospital. That was the last thing I heard
