Twists of Fate
Martin loosened his collar nervously, knowing that Mrs. Roman was the type of person who would shoot the messenger who brought her bad news. And he knew Mrs. Roman would consider his update atrocious: “Ms. Brandenburg has returned, and she insists on staying. Her pilot, Jack, says weather conditions make flying unsafe. The wings on his plane are iced over badly.”
“Tell Smiling Jack we have deicer,” Mrs. Roman sniffed.
“Nick, uh, used it all up on his plane.”
“Then he can fly!” Nicole exclaimed, not thinking entirely of aircraft. She looked relieved.
