Chapter PT2: Savior

OZARIO'S VIEW: THROUGH THE NIGHT I was cuddling Cat tightly in my arms. I never wanted to experience her absence again. Her silky texture of hair slipped through my fingertips. Cat left her mouth open a little. As a result, she started to drool. I wiped off her mouth. I chuckled at the sight of her sweet face next to mine and saliva oozing out the fissure of her lips again.  "Cati, chill. You're making an ocean in here." "Niagara Falls..." she groaned in her sleep. What? I laughed at Catalina's reply. At night, I loved messing with Cat. She's always been talking in her sleep, and she's never had a clue I picked on her. Indeed, I adored everything of her. She could be so charming ... when she's not crazy as hell. I started singing, "What does the fox say?" "Meow..." Cati murmured a perfect imitation of a kitten. I shook my head. At this point, she would be able to answer everything with anything. I tried something else, howling. "Moo..." Okay. I need to get out of Catalina's bed before I wake her up. I was trying to restrain my laughter by covering my mouth, but it was so hard. Her face was as exquisitely adorable as she was asleep. I slipped out of her covers gingerly. Cati's room looked hideous, so I was cleaning her as silently as a mouse. I knew she must have been very tired, because she had been drooled again. I shook my head and walked to her side to wipe it off her cheek. While Cati was asleep, a frown crossed her face. Maybe she's having a nightmare again. I knelt beside her, slipping my hand under her soft left cheek. Her face was relaxed in the palm of my hand. Watching her, I couldn't shake the thoughts of what had happen. The adrenaline left my chest with an uncomfortable throb. ~ OZARIO'S FLASHBACK~ Over the phone, Skuld exclaimed in fear what was happening to my greatest friend, "Catalina is trying to kill herself! You have to stop her, now!" "What?" My heart stopped, and my blood ran cold. No doubt my eyes turned red. No. Cat... You're that afraid? That angry? I frowned and turned to the door. Alice stood behind me with a worried expression. "I already know. I'm going to get her." I responded and rushed out the door. I didn't hesitate to spot the first vehicle I saw and scurry inside it. Out of all the things that has happened, I'm not losing her now! Henry opened the garage door for me. I pulled out and sped off as fast as the car would go. In all honesty, I don't know why I took a car when I could run faster. I was too pissed off to think straight then. All I understood was the fact I had seconds to get to her and stop her from making this horrible decision. I almost panicked. For the first time in my life, I felt something that made my heart race. Pumped my blood heavily without having to run. Had shaken me without an earthquake. I felt an excessive amount of fear. I've never felt this amount of fear but only once in my entire life. I felt afraid to lose this abnormal human girl for what? Right... Because I care and love her too much. So much that she could be the death of me. My phone lit up. Before it rang, I picked it up. "Hello." My voice quivered. "Ozario, hurry!" Shouted Urdur. "I am! I am!" I shouted. I began thinking a little more thoroughly. I remembered something they taught me during my first century. "Hey, Verdandi." "Yes, Ozzi?" "Manipulate the present for me, please? Can you just give me a little more time," I begged? "That's dangerou... I... I could try. Hold on." Verdandi left for a second. I heard the three girls in the background debating what to do for Cat. Skuld came back to the phone and said, "Ozario, you can stop her from using the gun!" I repeated to myself, "Gun... Got it." I loosened one hand from the wheel and moved it to the gears stick. I tapped my hand on the stick while change shifts. I turned the car and pressed on the gas a little harder. I breathed heavily. "Again." Skuld asked. I tapped my hand on the gear stick and bit my lip in hopes it worked. I waited until they asked for something else. There was no response, making me a little impatient. I heard them debate again. Urdur came to the phone. She shouted, "Knives. Prevent her from using any silverware!" I rubbed my thumb and index finger together. This should bend them and make'em disappear. "It worked! They bent!" Urdur exclaimed happily. "Oh, no!" My heart beat race quicker the second she mumbled that. Urdur said, "She's going after some bleach."  "I got it!" Verdandi took over. For a while, the ladies were silent. I started tapping the foot that wasn't on a pedal. I began tapping my finger irritably. I couldn't stop staring so forward at the endless road, wondering and worrying. I tried to breathe more slowly. "Oh, my damn!" Skuld shouted, making me jerk in my seat. "You're not gonna make it, Ozario! She's about to hang herself!" I stomped on the gas pedal. No. No. No. I repeated in my head. No. She can't go. She can't. Not, yet! "Wait... What?" Verdandi whispered. She said, "Cat's neck is so strong. She is hanging, but she is breathing just fine. She just got herself down." "Whaaat?" I whispered to myself, narrowing my eyes. This happened with Carlisle. What is she? For a while, nothing happened. Apparently, Cat became so unbalanced she rocked herself in a corner in anger. This gave me time to get to her. I moved the gear shift to turn and sped off, again. I breathed in and out slowly. I began hearing Catalina shout at the sky through the phone. Verdandi must be using her crystal to watch her. "She's going to the drawer to get a weapon and try again." "It's alright. The silverware is gone." I replied. Yet, somehow, I must find a solution to convince Cati she doesn't need to die. Catalina's been reading that bible I had on my desk for decoration very sneaky like at night. I knew which ones she liked the most and which would help the most. "I have a request, please?" "Yes?" Verdandi answered. I looked at the bag I left in Rosalie's Ferrari. I asked, "Could you send Catalina messages for me." "Of course! There are napkins there." Verdandi replied. In fact, I brought the bible with me in my bag. I pulled it out and placed it on the passenger seat. I didn't need to open it to know which ones I needed. It wasn't just a decoration to me either. I relaxed and resumed steady breathing. "Hm... Send her a few bible verses for me. First is John, chapter 11, verses 25 and 26." I asked, slowly detailing. "Uh... Okaaay?" Verdandi accepted. She sounded curious why something like me would ask such a thing. Urdur gasped and, merrily, announced, "Catalina stopped. I think she's startled, but she stopped!" I nodded. I figured she would. "Send Luke, chapter 21, verses nine, 18 and 19." Skuld asked after a long silence, "How do you know these?" I remembered my life as a child and my life as a butler of the Orchid household. I shrugged and replied, "I just... do. Next is Psalms 27, verse 14." "Let me guess." Skuld gleefully predicted, "Pastor White?" The first man who ever changed my whole life for the better. He passed away when I was a child. I grinned, pulled up in Catalina's driveway. Her car was left in the same spot as always. I said, "Send her Psalms 23, four through six. That one is Catalina's favorite. I'm here." "Got it," Verdandi joyfully stated! "Get her, Onyx!" I opened the door and stepped out. I grabbed my bag and rushed inside. "Oh... I am." I growled. "And, I'm cracking the whip! Thank you for your help. I greatly appreciate it." The women giggled as always, and I hung up.  I shouted, "CATALINA YONG, GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE!" Swiftly, I rushed upstairs to Cat's room and found feet slipping underneath the bed. Hmph. ~End of Flashback~  I heavily breathed the memory away and, using my free hand, wiped my forehead as hard as I could to calm myself. What a terrifying experience. Is that how my brother felt when I...? I lowered my head. Some hours had passed. I was watching the sun wake up to the sky. I haven't left Catalina's side since her nightmare. The sun had touched her face. Slowly, she opened her eyes and found me in front of her. I lifted my head from the bed. Catalina took hold of my hand, sitting up herself. "Good morning, Oni."
