Chapter 6: Spot

"Grab it! Hurry! Run!" Her voice came in laughter as she ran in her torn up denim jeans sprinting out the door. The alarm was blaring loudly, reminding us that the police where on their way. "Unlock the last cage!" Lisa called running with the big lazy dogs. I laughed at her going to the last cage and unlocking it to see an old Dalmatian, he was clearly blind but so beautiful. Dalmatians always had a huge place in my heart, I think it's because of the movie with all the puppies and Cruella DeVil...she was insane. Reaching in I hushed it and ran a hand over its head before leading it out and then carrying the massive dog running out while Maddi shouted "That's the last!" From behind me. Running out the door past all the dogs running free, I hurried on my feet carrying the sixty five pound dog in my arms as his tongue stuck out happy. No ones killing you today buddy. I could barely breathe through this ski mask, I swear this is hard to do already with a heavy ass dog in my arms. "Put him down Dayna!" Maddi called running beside me with a worried laugh. Ignoring her I ran faster and then the sirens came, they sounded closer than we thought. "f**k!" I sprinted faster and then watched Maddi push open a gate and run into the backyard. I had no idea where Kyla and Lisa went but they left before us so they should be good. Hopefully. Maddi walked to the backyard, seeing as I'd rather not be arrested, I followed. She turned the corner as I shut the gate with my foot, looking back at her she jumped screaming loudly. My heart stopped as I ran up behind her seeing Clark holding his hands up and looking like he was ready to tackle if he needed to. Oh god... Of all the houses, Clark's?! It had to be Clark's?? Maddi pulled her ski mask off and smiled at him "Sorry Clark, honestly didn't mean to scare you..." she stated calmly. He eyed her and then looked at me with the Dalmatian, "Kyla?" He smirked. Why is he smirking at Kyla's name? "No, that's Dayna." Maddi said pulling the ski mask off letting my hair go everywhere in my face. How sexy..thanks Maddi. God she's something else. I blew it out of my face and shook my head putting the dog down as it sat right on my foot. Running my hands through my hair I let out a breath and massaged my arms that ached like crazy. Damn that Dalmatian weighs more than she looks like she weighs. He eyed the dog, then looked to the gate and then at Maddi, the sound of the police sirens all over the streets "You guys running from the cops?" He asked with a curious stare as he crossed his arms over his chest. I gave a small nod, "Well we broke all the dogs out of the pound before Sleep Saturday...you know, when they put all the unsold ones to sleep....forever." I'm sure I sounded like a blabbering i***t, but that's what happens when I'm around Clark, I ruin everything with my weirdness. He smiled up at me and then kneeled down to pet Spot. That's what I named him. I always wanted a dog named Spot. Clark nodded, "Should have called me, I would've brought my truck and helped." His laughter came out like silky heaven and I swear to the world that it couldn't find a sexier sound. Mmm. My Clark. He wouldn't let my dog go, and I leaned down to pet Spot who was happily still laying on my feet. Spot turned and began licking Clarks face making him laugh more. Dreamy...oh I could melt in that laughter. Smiling I did something very stupid, maybe it's because I'm so stuck on his looks and laugh, but I said "You can have Spot if you'd like." Like an i***t. My mind wanted me to say 'just kidding, back off he's mine' but my heart said 'he can have anything his handsome heart desires'. Stupid heart! Clarks eyes lit up and he nodded "Of course! I'd love to!" I wished he had said 'but I cant' after his sentence. I even waited for it, there was no decline though. Fuck. I gave Spot one last kiss and sighed, "I don't know if Spot is a he or she, maybe when it's not laying on me you can check. She's blind by the way." I was expecting him to tell me that he didn't want her anymore but instead he smiled wider. Ugh..."My sister is blind, it's perfect that she'll have a companion now." He responded looking Spot over. I forgot about his little sister, she lost her sight when she fell through ice into the cold water, she came out blind and with pneumonia. She lived thankfully, that happened about eight years ago, she's sixteen now. Spot seemed to love Clark as he rubbed up against him and away from my feet. Sigh. "Lets go, I think the cops are gone." Maddi stated peeking over the fence. Standing up I looked down at Clark, "Take good care of Spot. Bye." I said nervously as I walked to the gate to see him smile and wave bye. I hate myself. We ran to Maddi's house first and I dropped her off and began walking myself home. Long day, I would've been walking home with my blind baby right now. Stupid heart. Dogs ran around the streets and I smirked watching them all play at the park together and then hurry away when a person came by. If they were smart they'd go far away, somewhere into the mountains. If I was smart, I wouldn't have given Spot away. Going up the street, I listened the sound of rustling before a grunt and then the sound of fighting. Me being the not smart person, I turned down the alley quietly, my mind thinking it could be a woman in trouble or a kid being kidnapped. The small light that came from the back of some old bar showed four guys. It was clear three of them were fighting against one guy and I think that's so unfair.  Watching for a while, I noticed the single guy with the shaggy brown hair had a bloody lip and knuckles. His stomach was bleeding too, they probably stabbed him. I stayed quiet and noticed the ginger guy tackle him from behind, the shaggy brunette guy looked tired and exhausted but not wanting to quit the fight. Two of them jumped on him and he tried to fight them, I eyed the third guy who pulled a gun from his back belt. Oh s**t! They're going to kill him! Looking around, I grabbed the large empty whiskey bottle and moved behind him quietly before smacking it hard over the back of his head. The guy dropped the floor unconscious and I grabbed his gun aiming at the two who where staring at me curiously. "You even know how to shoot that little girl?" One asked. I aimed toward his d**k and pulled the trigger. The bullet grazed his pants and I made sure not to look surprised "Yeah, and I know where to shoot." I said confidently. The ginger eyed the second guy and they both reached behind their backs. Aiming, I shot once and listened to the guy cry out. Grabbing another empty bottle I tossed it hard and fast. The glass shattered over the gingers face, his nose broke with it and I watched him fall to the floor passed out. Holding the gun at the other guy, I c****d an eyebrow and he took a long stare at my face. The scar down his eyebrow was something I noted and labeled this night. He went to shoot but I shot the gun from his hand, grabbed another bottle tossing it against the side of his head hard. The guy landed into the wall hard and slumped to the floor. I wiped the gun from my handprints with my shirt and tossed it aside before turning to the guy bleeding and dazed out. Going to the brunette, I pulled him up and he tried to walk as I hurried him down the alley and out to one of the hospitals nearby. As he was checked in, I watched them thank me and I didn't know if I should stay or go but once the cops walked in, I decided I should definitely go. I walked home and did it hurriedly to avoid any more odd situations or accidents. Mom would die if I came home gutted by some random guys in an alley. After all, I'm her favorite kid. She hasn't admitted it, but I know I am.
