She was so stubborn, but I had to admire how she resisted me. Very few would persist as she did, but I would extract the answers from her eventually. She could resist it, but we both knew she would yield to me in the end, not because I pushed her so far, although I did, but because she understood as well as I did that this truly was the last obstacle between us.
Once this conflict was resolved, she and I could be together, and we would be. She just had to relinquish this final thing. I knew it was difficult for her because it was what she had fought for for so long, but she simply had to. It was a futile cause, and I didn’t want to see her dragged down with it.
