Chapter 4
After leaving my room, I was walking to get breakfast when my mother called me from the end of the hallway.
Queen: "Luna, could you please come here? We have something to discuss."
I approached her, and she told me.
Queen: "Tomorrow is your birthday; we have your dress fitting after training, and we need to rehearse a few things. So, after your practice, meet me in the ballroom. I also wanted to ask about your training from yesterday."
I told her that training was challenging but enjoyable, and that everyone was at least talking to one another. But I believe we will be okay.
Queen: "I am glad Luna, remember to always do your best; I will see you later in the ballroom."
I went to get breakfast, and because of yesterday's training, nobody could move. Once again, Shaun met us there and declared, "Today we are going to test your combat skills; meet me in the courtyard in five minutes. The last two to arrive will engage in a duel, of course."
Everyone ran except Kraven, who is always trying to look cool. Braxton arrived first, followed by me, then Selene, and finally Malcom.
Shaun said, "Malcom and Kraven, grab a sword and show me what you are capable of." They grabbed it and stood five feet apart before Shaun yelled, "Start."
They began, and the strikes of the swords were so loud that I could not believe how powerful these two are. Malcom was delivering hits that could kill people with a single blow, and Kraven was holding strong. Kraven is extremely fast and strong. Twenty minutes had passed, and they were still going strong. They both had minor cuts. Then Shaun said, "Okay, stop, because if not, I am sure you will continue until tomorrow." They shook hands and said, "Well done, worthy opponent." I swear Kraven had a smirk on his face. Then Shaun began the class on how to use and wield weapons. After the first class, we went to the creatures class, and then training was completed, and it was time to meet with my mother.
I entered the ballroom, and there she was with my friend Claire. I saw the dress my friend Claire made for me, which was a ball gown with a green and gold sweetheart neckline that was stunning.
Luna: "Oh wow mom these dress is beautiful thank you Claire."
Claire: “Try it on Luna”.
Luna: "Okay, I will be right back".
As I left to put on my gown. Lord Barek and Tristan entered the ballroom to speak with my mother about some business. Tristan gave me an intense look when I came out wearing my dress; he could not take his eyes off of me. He grinned and exclaimed, "Wow." My mother said...
Queen: "Oh, Luna, you look stunning, and the dress fits perfectly. But now we need to see if you can dance with it. "Tristan, could you dance with her to test the dress?"
Tristan: "It would be my honor."
Claire turned on some music, and he grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. He placed his hand on my waist, and we began ballroom dancing. He just kept looking at me while we danced, and my mother began conversing with Tristan's father. And in a low voice, he told me...
Tristan: "My love, you look beautiful."
My face turned a little red because it was the first time we had been so close in front of others, and the way he said it nearly stopped my heartbeat. Once the dance was over, my mother said, "Perfect, you can dance in it, than you Tristan." He bowed to me, looked at me, and said, "I will see you tomorrow." He then left with his father.
Morning arrived, and today is my birthday. I need to get ready to meet Tristan by the lake. However, I can hear Selene, Braxton, Malcom, and Kraven from my team outside my room. They shouted Happy Birthday, Luna, as I opened the door. Except for Kraven, who was just standing there leaning against the wall, I grinned and gave them hugs.
Luna: "I really appreciate all of you."
Selene: "We are about to start practicing our dancing. The queen desires that we participate in the ball dance alongside you.
Luna: "Well, I am happy you are; I really appreciate your help."
Braxton: "Luna, see you later."
After that, I headed out to meet Tristan. I arrived to find him waiting for me on the flimsy boat's edge.
Tristan: "Well, happy birthday, my love. Today we are going to have a picnic on a boat; give me your hand."
He assisted me in getting on the boat and then paddled it far away so that no one could see us. The view was breathtaking and romantic; there were high mountains and waterfalls, which were stunning. He said here is perfect, and the first thing he did was kiss me in the most romantic, slow, and gentle manner. Then he took the food out of the basket, and we ate, talked, and laughed. After we ate, we lay down on the boat and stared at the sky, our foreheads touching as we talked for hours. Then he told me.
Tristan: "Luna."
He paused for a brief moment.
Tristan: "I never imagined I would feel this way for you. I can not stop thinking about you, and I cherish every moment I spend with you. I cannot wait to hold you in my arms. I would die for you, my love. And the thought of us not being able to be together is killing me on the inside.
Luna: "I feel the same way, my love."
He was crying, and I tried to dry his tears with my hand while also crying myself. He spoke with a sad tone.
Tristan: "It is not fair."
For the rest of the day, we just lay in each other's arms without saying anything. Then a few hours later, he said...
Tristan: "I need to take you back so you can get ready."
And out of nowhere, he said:
Tristan: "Luna, marry me."
I looked into his watering eyes, crying my eyes out, and said yes, kissing him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the most gorgeous ring. He grabbed my hand and placed it on my finger, saying, "I promise to love you no matter what," and kissed me. After that, we continued to talk and laugh, simply enjoying the moment. We did not get into the hows and what-ifs of getting married; we just wanted to be in the moment and not let anything ruin it. He said he had the ring specially made for me a few weeks ago. But he chose to wait until my birthday, so that everyone else believes the ring was a birthday present from him. When we got back, he helped me down and said...
Tristan: "Enjoy your day, my love, and please save me a dance."
I hugged him, told him I loved him, and then I left.
It was time to prepare for the ball. Claire entered my room with the dress. I told her everything that had happened, and she was overjoyed for me. She has always been aware of me and Tristan, and she has always been supportive of our relationship.
Claire: "Okay, Luna's hair and makeup are finished; what do you think?"
Luna: "Oh wow, I love it; thank you again, Claire."
