Chapter 21 We were sitting in bed early the next morning. I had just woken up. I’m not sure how long she had slept. “You look worried about something.” She nodded. “I got a message from my editor yesterday afternoon. He says he can’t edit my book because he’s going into the hospital and doesn’t know how long he’ll be there. He has colon cancer.” “Oh, no!” I exclaimed. “Did he say how advanced it was?” I asked. “No. I should probably call Elliot, the publisher, and ask.” Janet was apprehensive. “I’ve worked with him on all five books. I don’t know how I’ll do with another editor.” “Did he tell you who would edit it?” “It’s a young guy, who’s only been with the company for a few years: a Van Kauffman. At least I didn’t get a rookie.” “I’m sure everything will work out with your book.
