“Hi, Shelby, come on in,” Gerry greeted me when I arrived at Janet’s house. “Mom’s in the shower. She’ll be right down. Go on in and get comfortable.” She motioned to the living room. “I’ve got to get ready. I’m going out tonight.”

“Nah,” she responded, shaking her head. “Just a bunch of us are gonna hang out.”
“Then have fun.”
