Zander The door closed softly behind Gina, but I didn’t move. I stood where I’d been the entire conversation, staring at the folder she’d carried out of my office. A duplicate still sat on my desk, her résumé clipped neatly inside, along with the notes I’d made in the margins after reading it for the third time. Gina Lombardi. Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising. Graduated with honors. Two internships. Excellent references. Outstanding performance reviews. How in the hell had someone with those credentials ended up answering phones for over a year? I already knew the answer. Confidence. Or rather… the lack of it. Gina believed in hard work.
