Maddie's POV I sat in the waiting area as the surgery was still ongoing. It felt as if it took forever for them to get done. The emptiness still lingered inside. Reggie was still sitting beside me, sipping water from a bottle that he got from the cafeteria. I didn't know how to sit. Every time I had seen a nurse or a doctor enter the waiting room, my heart would beat again, hoping that it was about Mariko and hope resurfaced. "Are you sure you do not want anything to eat?" Reggie asked me. "I'm sure. I can't eat right now unless I know for sure that he will be okay. They have been in there for a long time." tears welled up again, and I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. I didn't want to cry again. But the worry was just too much. "Think about the babies, Maddie," he said.
