VI: Death They stopped as little as possible as they moved through the desert towards Jaka. Akshara spent much of the journey cursing Erevia’s name under her breath. The farther west they went, the colder it got, which seemed strange to Akshara. “Why is it so cold here?” She asked, shivering. “Because we’re getting closer to the edge of the known world,” Erevia replied. “Closer to the light bridge. But don’t worry, because we’ll buy furs in Jaka to keep us warm the rest of the way.” That night, Erevia built a fire at their campsite, and Akshara sat as close as possible to it, shivering the whole time.
